If you feel like dropping $4k plus your trade in for a roughly 5-10% jump in general tube performance, knock yourself out. Money poorly spent in my opinion. Unless you simply have disposable income and don't care about a favorable cost to performance ratio.

If you have a NVD BNVD housing, and not a BNVD-SG housing, then I could understand the desire to upgrade to something with manual gain. But if you already have a BNVD-SG housing, that housing is already better than 90% of what's on the market today despite it being very old. I've owned multiples of just about everything out there and the BNVD-SG is easily in my top 3 when it comes to articulating housings.

If you have a BNVD 1431, then it's worth upgrading to something not made in China. Chinese and US made night vision housings are considerably different in quality. The Chinese stuff is hobby grade, while US made housings (from a reputable manufacturer like nocturn) are generally professional grade by comparison.


If you want a brick shit house housing that will outlive you and your children, I would get a MGA housing by AB night vision and never look back.


Selling your current bino isn't like slapping the easy button of doing a trade in, but you will get more on the used market selling your current bino outright and then you won't be locked in to working with Steele. No shade thrown at them but I can think of 4 other vendors I would do business with before them, and two of them are site sponsors. The biggest issue with night vision consumers is thinking that all vendors are created equal. They aren't... By a long shot.

The next issue is people prioritizing tubes over housings. Once you get into the big 3: L3 filmed, Elbit, and Photonis 4G...all of those tubes do the same things in the field. None of them have enough difference between them to change your life when looking into darkness. However, the housing that you constantly have to rely on and interface with is a bigger deal in my opinion. I know that's controversial due to the culture of spec sheet shlong measuring within the NV community, but that's my opinion nonetheless. Once you get into unfillmed and high gain options, the tube thing becomes more relevant again.
