For the last year I've been on the fence about a proper light setup on my SD conversion. I hated the look of the clamp on solutions like the one that goes on the suppressor, or clamps on the rubber handguard. I probably should have gone with a modern SD cage that had m-lok but here I am. Here is my setup: If you would like more details see below: The solution I ended up going with was the Gibbous Outfitters MP5 adapter as it seemed like a decent option. However, the info on the website wasn't very clear. There are a few options and it states: "The MP5 Front Sight Mount is designed for use with Modlight 18650 or 18350 weapon light bodies, Surefire ST07 pressure switches, and Surefire UE tailcaps. The MP5 Front Sight Mount will not fit legacy Surefire scout lights and will need the PRO addon to fit Surefire PRO lights." If you aren't familiar with weapon lights, you might not know that a 18650or 18350 "modlight" body is the same as the surefire body. So when I bought this adapter I wasn't sure if I had to buy one of those bodies and use my surefire head on it. To make a long story short, with the current 340 and 640 surefire lights you should be fine with this adapter. I found 1 site that said it would work on an SD model and sure enough it fits just right. I also saw a few posts (on reddit...) about the adapter not screwing in tight and possibly needed washers or different length screws. Again, mounting hardware that came with it worked just fine. It's nice and tight. The extra height on the cocking tube doesn't impact my ability to charge the weapon. I bought the model which has a spot for the pressure pad but currently I don't own the required tailcap or pressure pad. I will likely use the clicky button as is unless I find a good deal on those parts.
