So I’m currently lacking a PCC in my collection. Previously had a Scorpion but sold that.

I’ve looked at the Stribog and Kuna, and would certainly love to have one, but I also have a P320 sitting around doing nothing.

For less than half do I just buy a Flux Raider chassis? It’s a full-size 320 with a threaded barrel, so no worse than the micro PCCs.

This is something that once I’ve become familiar with I would keep in my vehicle. Be it a Flux, Kuna, or Stribog.

I really enjoyed my time with the Raider. I think it would make a great truck gun carried without a round in the chamber.

Not a P320, but a Glock 17 Gen 2 in a Recover 20/20N chassis.  This had a side to over the top mount for a dot sight and a laser light on the under side.

I got to shoot it against a Ruger PC9, the one with the long MLoc forestock.  The PC9 had a dot sight.

Anyway, it is a comparison of a pistol in a chassis vs a heavy pistol caliber carbine.  Both were 9mm using 115 gr ammo and both were suppressed using a Hybrid 46.  Both use Glock magazines.

Ruger's PC9 is direct blowback and the G17 is locked breech short recoil.

In fast present and shoot, often with a follow up shot: the Glock 17 in the chassis had a bit higher score than the PC9 carbine.  Not by a lot but it was definitely there.

The PC9 has a 16+" barrel, it is heavy and long with a suppressor, the G17 in the 20/20N is much lighter and has much less rotational inertia, so it swings from target to target much faster.

Port Pop is too loud from the PC9, the G17 had none noticed.  The G17 is quieter, but everything is much closer to the ear and I wear good hearing protection, so I can't really tell about noise to the shooter.  Noise to the bystanders is less with the G17.  147gr subsonic is definitely quieter than 115 gr Monarch in the G17.

Blow back eye "burn" is much more from the G17, especially when using the dot sight instead of the laser.  This is when using aviator teardrop style sunglasses, it's worse when naked eye shooting.

Reloads were faster for the G17.

Recoil was less with the G17, the PC9 has a heavy bolt that comes to an abrupt stop at the back of its travel.

The PC9 will function with lighter handloads than the G17.

If the G17 in the 20/20N didn't have the eye "burn" it would be much easier to use than the PC9.

The MP5 clone I've used would be better still.

Cost: a threaded barrel for the pistol and the chassis has to be weighted against the price of the new Extar EP9 MDB roller delayed carbine and the wait for it to be released.  Or the Kuna or Stribog or the new Taurus RPC.

I SBRed my P320 in the Flux rig… nice, but with all the P320 BS… it’s out of my rotation. Before I pulled it, it was in the bag with an empty chamber.

I put the P365 version into that role, being it has a regular firing pin safety. Smaller too. Actually gives me a little extra ammo on the gun for 21+21+1 (43), since it fits in my back that only allowed for 21+17 (38). My spare magazines are two 25s instead of two 30s… but it is what it is.

For the P320…

-Cheek weld sucks… it’s doable, but it is a metal rod.

-Suppressing isn’t its strong suit. There is a Spreadsheet that gives people’s secret sauce on Flux’s website.

-Positive of being more available, as people are dropping the P320 like a bad habit.

Being someone who has a lot of pistol caliber carbines, I think you can get a lot better out of other options. Don’t need to go into a Kuna or Stribog. Can build an AR9 likely for less (if the P320 is what you want for mags, Stern makes an adapter). Hell, I think I still have a Beretta CX4 rolling around, but there are other 16” options. KelTec SUB2k. Any MP5 clone. Lots of options available… more if you aren’t stuck on the P320.

If I knew where the P320 was going beforehand, I likely wouldn’t have SBRed it. I doubt SIG will ever resolve those issues. And probably wouldn’t have done the Flux for it… would have skipped to the P365.

This is the 55th 320 Tech thread since It Ended TODAY.

Kel-Tec SUB2000 Multi-Mag comes w/ a P320 mag catch in the box, the current production Gen 3 comes w/ a rotating forend so red dot mounts are easy.  Very quiet w/ a large can; there's also an integrally suppressed version as well.

Kel-Tec SUB CQB has an internally suppressed 16" barrel.  It looks appealing but it is undelayed blowback.

Extar EP9 MDB is roller delayed and supposed to be soft shooting but suppressor goes on the front of the barrel, not the shorter SD around the barrel style.

Pistol in a chassis seems to be the shortest and least expensive too.  That P320 rig looks very appealing.

Have the SUB2k… I just feel the CQB is a little too far toward Hi Point cheapness. Like that Tropic Thunder movie… “never go full retard.” But they also didn’t get the memo about SBR/suppressor stamps being $0, since they still have “only spend $200 due to the 16” barrel” on the CQB page. That being said, putting the brass bolt weight and heavy charging handle on my SUB2k was pretty good with my Dead Air Odessa. I’m sure if KelTec built the CQB, they likely modified the system to work the best suppressed… hopefully.

I have a 10.5” Angstadt Vanquish on a SBRed AR9, and it is a very nice of a setup. Can be had in 16”. Blowback is louder than something like an MP5, but it protects hearing enough if needed for a serious incident (why I built the gun).

If suppression is a must, fixed barrel is definitely a major plus.

I have a SBR p320.

This has held up well.

It makes a pretty cool night stand gun, but I don’t enjoy shooting mine.  I’d much rather be shooting my MPX.  Kinda wish I had flipped the Raider back when they were unobtainium.

I have multiple PCCs, (B&Ts and an MPX), and I also have a P365 Flux. These are not comparable platforms. The PCCs are a joy to shoot, light, great ergonomics, quasi-ARs with no noise when suppressed, and no recoil. The P365 Flux is an ultra-portable gun, but, tbh, not exactly fun to shoot. The small “brace” pad on the flux is sharp, the recoil is harsher, the slide to the eyeball is slightly unnerving, and the ergonomics are sub-optimal pistol ergos. The double-mag reload is pretty cool, though.

I’m not suppressing my Flux 365 yet, and that may help quite a bit.  In general, I say do it, but don’t think it is a substitute for a proper PCC.

I have a recover 20/20 for my Glock 34, and from my time trying it out, I will say this: it does what it does well, and it can be a decent PDW setup. It can even be decent stand in for an actual PCC.

But it is not, and won't be, a replacement for a dedicate subgun PCC. It's a novelty, useful for having as a bag gun if you really need one, but not useful enough that I would run it instead of a subgun.

But that is just for something like the 20/20, might be different for an actual chassis system.

But I don't think so.
