I'm sure there have been threads on this before.  That said, I have had a LNL AP for a couple years and didn't know about it until recently.

I saw some mentions of this in other threads.  I watched some videos on it.  I found the guy who did the designs selling them so I bought one for $99.  Wow.  What an amazing design and product.  I can't believe how easy it is to setup and how well it works.

I was worried about filling the tubes.  It turns out the little bowl that attaches to the top really works.  You just drop handfuls into the bowl and shake it a bit. They fall into the tubes in the proper orientation.   I tested it by filling them up a couple times.  I didn't have any cases upside down.  I'm sure it will happen, but I seems rare enough to pose no issues.  It's easy to switch between tubes.

If you have a LNL AP and you don't have a case feeder,  you HAVE to get one of these.  Time will tell on it's durability, but it seems sturdy.  I wish I was into 3d printing so I could reprint it if I needed to do so.

Highly recommend it.

The video below is the designer's video.   I bought it from him.  He has details on his Youtube page about purchasing it.  He responded quickly through messages on Thingiverse and shipped quickly.  All necessary hardware is included for assembly and mounting.  You do have to buy the feed tubes separately.

So make this thread a proper review thread.

Needs pics and link to seller.

Do the above and I will set the archive toggle to keep this thread out of the archives.

Good start, keep going.

I just got a 3d printer after thanksgiving.

One of my first projects was printing the case feeder for my Hornady LNL press. I'm waiting for all my hardware and Lee case tubes to come in.

I also redesigned a bullet tray that mounts to the press. I'll use this until I find some time to print the bullet feeder.

Here's the case feeder in action, and if you want to make your own here are the files.

This is the updated design based on the one OP bought.

Let me know how it works. If you have an old style press with a more square support bar it should be good to go for the clip. Since I tested that thoroughly on my press.

If you have a new press with a trapezoid shaped support bar not sure if clip is going to work on those. I kinda want someone to print one and let me know how it goes. I had to base my dimensions off another thingiverse design that I used to do my remix.

I recently printed in PETG and I think my clip design will work better with it. PETG has a little more give to it making it easier to put on the press, but it still held 100 200 grain 45 bullets.

I'm also working on a remix of the tool holder that uses my dovetail clip design. It will clip on the press like the bullet tray, but up higher to be out of the way. The tool holder has spots for your allen keys a brush and has a slot for misc stuff.

Will do. It's probably going to take me a bit to figure it out as I am green when it comes to 3d printing.

Im not sure what style of press I have but it's probably 15 years old. I think it's the more square support but I could be wrong.

I really want to find a die/powder drop holder that sits on a bench. I have 2 fully setup powder drops that need a home. I looked on one of the 3d file sites but only found holders that attach to the wall or a bench.

I realize this is an older thread, but since the archive toggle was set I think it's fair game

I've been feeding cases by hand for years now because I didn't want to pay for the Hornady case feeder. I hadn't considered a 3d printed version but saw something about it recently then found this thread...

So for any of you who bought or printed the 3d LNL case feeder, how is it working out? Anything you have learned or wished was different?

Absolutely you can bring an old thread back to life, that's why I set the archive toggle to keep them out of the archive.

Good luck with your question, I know a different color press, so I can't help.

You can also search utube for more videos, good luck.

I bought one from a guy off YouTube I think. I think I paid $110. He sent me videos of mine setup on his machine and running brass through it. Very well made and everything lined up and moves well. Still haven't actually loaded on my lnl ap. Hoping to change that soon.

I guess I'm not clear on the value here?

doesn't seem faster than putting shells in by hand, given you have to align them all into the tubes before loading?

Am I missing something?

Yes.

You just dump the cases into the bowl at the top of the tubes, shake it around, and they fall into the tubes in the correct orientation.

You can find links to the original files on another reloading forum. They do not distribute the current STLs due to others stealing them for profit. The current version now has 7 feed tubes.

I have a feeder that works great and I feel it was worth the price of admission. Purchased from the Hornady Reloading group on FB. They have one now too for the Hornady swager that I'm interested in trying next. The Lee APP version works great too.

Things I've noticed since getting mine in June of 2021:
  • the tubes will not hold 100 223 cases, but if you load them up, then throw some in the hopper, you can get there. But....
  • If you put too many cases in the hopper, it will fail to feed. Just don't overdo it.
  • Pouring from a tupperware container rather than dropping them in by the handful seems to have fewer upside down
  • You will find some upside down sometimes. Not a lot. Maybe 2-3%. It's no issues if you are watching as you can just flip it right side up before it goes to the shell plate. No real lost time or rhythym.
  • You do have to pay close attention otherwise you'll exhaust a tube, forget to turn it and end up with a blank slot on your shell plate
  • Installation is incredibly simple.
  • It does sound like a cheese grater due to the way 3D printers work. Every time I use it I think "I should dremel those smooth." but in a year and a half, it hasn't bothered me enough to actually do anything about it.
I'd say the biggest hangups are forgetting to change the caliber. It's simple, but if you forget, and feed 223 into the 9mm slot, it's like trying to separate an AR upper with the bolt back.

Attached File

The detent when changing the feeder tubes looks like it might be cheap, and it's not exact, but it works fine every time without fiddling.

This is actually set to the 9/45 slot.

I have several thousand 9mm and a few thousand 223. Really speeds up the decapping/sizing stage of brass prep.

I've had a few uses for a 3d printer now so may end up getting one regardless. I've already looked at a few other LNL press accessories I could print.

They really get their usefulness if you take the time to learn 3D modelling software, so you can design your own stuff.

You'd be amazed the number of times you'll find a small plastic bracket or something you can quickly draw up and print is a game changer, including for reloading.

I’m on the list to get this one. Jeff said the wait list was about three weeks and that was on 1/15/23 so hopefully I’ll be hearing from him soon. He seems like a really nice guy and everyone that has gotten one from him seem like happy campers. I’m used to waiting for gun stuff, I’m almost always waiting for a tax stamp so 3 weeks is no biggie lol.

Hey all.  Girthrockwel just told me about the page going here so I figured I would register here and be available for folks!!!

Couple things to note I do have a new platform for taking orders.  Anyone who's ordered already has been entered in.

I also have a new platform for sending invoices and receiving payments.  So hopefully makes it easier on the customer and it makes me more organized and better set up for year end.

Another Important Note!!!  I do work with a partner who makes and sells the same product at the same price and I bounce orders to!!!  So don't be surprised if you do order on the site and I send you an email and tell you that Matt will be taking care of you.  This is done to better suite you guys as the customer to get the product out to you faster!!!

I'm not sure if I can actually promote and sell on this forum but I will look into!!! If anyone has anything questions, ways to make the case feeder better, or anything I'm all ears!!!

Thanks,
Jeff

Ok that's what I kind of figured.

Can you send me details on becoming an Industry Partner?

Also is it acceptable to put my website in my signature?  Or is that considered promotion?

Thanks for your time!!!

I got mine in and setup on the press. I went slow for a couple of days just getting used to everything. It is a massive game changer and at a fraction of the cost of the hornady feeder. I’m also using a mr bullet feeder for 9mm. I’m loving this setup.

My case feeder arrived yesterday and I set it up, ran through 300 rounds of .223. Everything ran smoothly for the first ~250 rounds but then it started to bind up a bit, right at the "curve" (upwards transition point for the roller bearing). I believe I hadn't adequately tightened the bolts and things had shifted a bit, as upon removing and reinstalling the case feeder it ran smooth again. I snugged the bolts just a hair tighter this time.

I loaded some more tonight and everything went well.

I've had 4 or 5 cases feed upside down - easy to see and grab.
I had 3 collisions at stage 5 - loaded round and empty brass hit instead of ejecting / feeding. Not quite sure what is going on there.
Several small handfuls of (.223) brass fill the tubes better than a large handful.

I have 4K+ pieces of .223 brass ready to load through this if I can find storage space for the loaded rounds. All of my ammo cans are full

Mine was rubbing a little where the slide moves right under the tubes. I put a tiny dab of grease on the contact surfaces of those two plastic surfaces and it felt like butter after that.

I have also had maybe three or four collisions between station 1 and 5. I’ve loaded 650 9mm, 200 .223 and 125 300blk with the feeder. The collisions seemed to be when I was running through the 9 and I figured it was just a few rounds that were stubborn to eject from the shell plate. I haven’t had enough of them to really find the cause.

Mr bullet feeder is what I use. It’s a simple case activated die that has little ball bearings in it that hold the bullet back until the case pushes a collar up and it drops a bullet on the case mouth. It has tubes that you rotate around when they empty. I think I payed around $110 for the die and tube hopper deal. I’ve been really happy with it.

ETA: I got mine locally at a place that has great prices. The website shows $165 for the 9mm setup but I’m almost positive I’d didn’t pay that for it.

1K .223 loaded up over the past two days, and a few more collisions.

I thought at first maybe it was the speed in which I was operating the press, but intentionally raising the handle very slowly did not cause a collision.

Possibly shell plate timing (pawl adjustment) but that appears to be dead on when operating at normal speed and watching brass vs die position and incoming brass feed alignment.

Just set up the 223 version on my LnL. Had to add an M die neck expander, bullets feed and seat fine, a good addition along with the 3d case feeder.
