Looking to put a pistol on a old chest rig. Wondering if anyone makes a kydex type pistol holster that fits inside a standard 2x30 rifle mag pouch. Google has failed me. Thanks.

Ask Dale Fricke for a custom one.  He has a website.

Get a minimalist (IE, a slim) IWB holster.  Take the mounting hardware off.  I'm not saying get this one, It's an example.  But I have used this one before.

I bet you could wrap some one wrap around an IWB holster clip so it catches on the pouch's velcro.

Yup, if the pouch has velcro on the inside.

You can also use 3M spray and attach velcro to the holster semi-permanently.

I just use paracord and shock-cord the holster (through an eyelet on the holster) to the bottom of the pouch, out the drainhole and knot it so that it catches the holster when drawn.

GWOT clone correct is to slap a light on it and just put it in there as long as there is a flap or a bungie to retain it. If the pouch is snug enough and you are deliberate about it, there is not much difference between that and this molle holster.

If there is a drain hole and you aren't going to run a light you could 550 a Vanguard to the botom of the pouch and it will pop off on the draw. Clip it back on when you reholster.

Yeah most IWB holsters for average sized guns will fit in double AR mag pouches, and can be anchored in a variety of different ways.

I use one as a holster with no kydex or any other addition. Works great.

I haven't exactly run battle drills with it, but it works fine hiking.

One added benefit to running a simple IWB holster is that, if you run it with soft loops or some other slim line clip hardware, you can always pull it out and put it on as an actual IWB holster on your belt if you had to.  I wouldn't want to swap it back and forth, but it's an option.

I use a Sheffif of Baghdad gun condom for this exact purpose.

HighNoon Holsters would be another option in the same vein. I especially like their leather holsters with polymer sight track sewn in. Comforts of leather with out the reholstering issues.

I used a old Fobus holster that I drilled out the rivets where the paddle attached .
I inserted the holster into a old SAS type drop leg holster , ran a Chicago screw thru the Fobus rivet hole and thru the back of the drop leg holster, very good retention and positioning.
You can sometimes find very cheap Fobus holsters in the used holster box at the gun shop.
Same thing should work with a mag pouch.

Hell, just shove it in and flap it down.

That's basically what I do with my belt kit.  But I dummy-cord a simple IWB kydex holster in there with paracord too.  It's simple, quickly and easily reversible if you decide you want to carry more rifle magazines instead, it works, it has retention if you open the flap of the pouch - and you can always pull the holster out and wear it if you have to ditch the belt kit for some reason.
