Been looking at the SHOT vids lately and it seems Holosun is on fire this year. Not just in NV stuff but across the board. At this point, you could conceivably replace all your RDS on rifles and pistols with Holosun and not be giving anything away. They have certainly come a long way. Sort of amusing they are confined to this forum, but much like the tactical corner of SHOT they will probably continue to grow, regardless. I think the IRIS series will end up replacing my "LAM" on all primary guns. The new stand-alone laser illum looks pretty good as well. On the RDS, I think I will end up upgrading my older Holosuns on pistols with the newer models, and putting the older ones as back-ups on LPVO-equipped rifles. It's like Holosun, and others like PSA, continue to improve and give us some options at decent price-points. I think they will slowly replace my Somo Gear and IS Lams, which have been good place-holders, but are now going to be relegated to land-nav patrols and such. Funny they caused such a stir within the industry (as illustrated by this forum) but hopefully have helped us get better products from the likes of Holosun. |

Welcome to 5 years ago, OP! ETA: I meant that as far as people realizing Holosun is a real competitor in the RDS landscape and taking them seriously. Maybe not so much from a "tier 1 product" perspective, but the industry and the major RDS companies have certainly woken up at least 5 years ago to the fact that Holosun is not only here to take their lunch for a few days, but to actually innovate and kick some ass if no one is willing to fight back. |

Guys I have been using Holosun since about when they first came out. I know they are good items at fair prices. But if you frequent many forums, including some here, they are poo-poo'd by the fan boys from other brands. My point being, it is getting to the point, especially with these new offerings, that Holosun is approaching parity with other mainstream, domestic brands. Look at the new EOTech RDS that is incorporating new features that Holosun has had since the beginning. Things that EOTech fanboys said were unnecessary and/or unreliable. Like shake-awake technology. That should tell you a lot about the industry and what people want. Also, lots of folks are using Holosun micro RDS's on their pistols, instead of the other usual suspects. I went to them earlier because I preferred the circle-dot reticle; now many are using them simply because they are approaching parity with domestics. And back to the OP, 2026 appears to be a banner year for them, with practically the complete product line re-vamped and up-dated. This is all different from 5 years ago, IMHO. Especially if you add in the new IRIS. I would say that this new laser/laser illum is the best choice, for the features and the price out there. So yeah, many here among us know Holosun is good kit, but again, look where it's put in the forums if you think everyone agrees or wants to acknowledge that. If you were a noob, and checking out products here, what would you think if you found it in the "Chinese NV Products", vs the main NV forum? Would you assume it's cheap chinese airsoft crap? |

Funny someone should mention open sights. I was trained on open sights, on a pencil bbl M-16A1, on the KD range at Quantico, in the summer of '76. Although open sights are near and dear to my heart, I think at this point in time it's safe to assume your RDS is reliable enough to go without them, YMMV, run anything you like on your smokepole. If it could be an issue, then an etched reticle, such as some PA offerings offers a solid back-up. And, seeing how this here is the NV forum, sorta, you could argue that your laser is your back up aiming system, or, even primary system, light levels depending. So irons become a tertiary system in some cases. But I get it; irons are, well irons, and hard to fuck up. And Chesty would approve. If'n I was setting up a new rifle, I would take a hard look at the AEMs at this point. I know the earlier Holosun sights got dinged for shitty light transmission under NV (especially as compared to the EXPS3-0), but I'd bet the newer AEMs have improved this with better glass coatings and more NV settings. So if passive aiming is part of your repertoire, then I'd bet a good Holosun sight can pull this off, again, approaching parity with the EOTech. So yeah continuous process improvement is the name of the game. If you are building something shorter, like a PDW, the newer Duo models can really save rail space, with their built-in lasers. Yes, it's been tried before, but maybe they finally cracked the code. Add on a good dual illuminator, and Bob's your uncle. |

It’s probably 95-99% as good as an eotech under nods, with aimpoint battery life, and so far hasn’t spontaneously disassembled on the inside (had an eotech do that) I like being able to choose between the dot and circle dot if I feel like it too. I wish they would put the same glass in the t2 style red dots. |

The new Holosuns have a front facing light sensor that appeals to me, especially at the cost, the RMR HD is alot of money to outfit several pistols with. I bought a Meprolight MPO-F with a front facing light sensor and it's junk, I like my Holosun SCS, have a couple but they just don't quite handle autobrightness for light in front as well as I would like. Hoping these new Holosun can match the RMR HD for 1/3 the price and I will stick them on a couple of PSA daggers and possibly replace the SCS on my Glocks. If the AEMS macro front facing sensors works too then it will end up on a PCC, saving for a Holosun thermal to mount on a SBR, more for fun then practicality but it would great for checking things out in the woods or yard. |
