This summer I'm planning on putting together a truck gun that I can take with me when I go weekend (or longer) overlanding in my Jeep (i.e. truck dispersed camping). We've got black bears and wolves in some parts along with the two legged meth heads and white trash you can find out in the rural areas. So, I'm going to put together a nice compact 300 blk rifle and I've been considering going with the Holosun DRS-TH for it so that I had right on the rifle something that could help me very quickly ID a target within 300 yards or so within a heavily wooded area day or night. Given the limited top rail space I don't think there will be room for a nicer higher resolutio clip on thermal. Yesterday, a YouTuber, BlueJeanOperator, who is a former 75th RR combat veteran and now cadre for MILSIM West, did this video on the Holosun DRS-TH. What I took away from this video was that the DRS-TH makes a good overlay thermal for us in conjunction with head mounted night vision for a sort of hybrid passive aiming solution. I'd be taking my PVS14 out with me when I go overlanding, do you guys think that the DRS-TH would be a good rifle optic given the role that I want my truck gun to play, which is a defensive 300 yard and in rifle for us while dispersed camping in the woods? I'd welcome any thoughts from anyone here who has used the DRS-TH and especially those who own one and have used it extensively. Thanks!  Failed To Load Title |

Hmmm. I hadn't thought about "fusion" with your -14. It would be "A" way, as he said for being caught in an unexpected contact; you could basically grab your rifle and go. So for a truck gun I'd say, yeah that makes a lot of sense, in that you might not have a lot of time to jock up. For instance, you hit a hostile road block of some sort and have to bail out using an immediate action drill. Another thing you could do. Rubber band a 3-mag bandolier to your handguard/rail, where it doesn't interfere with anything. You deploy with your rifle, and throw on the bando when time allows. This is where Holosun "shake awake" optics shine. |

They are around, for sure. They were on sale at multiple sites for around $1400 plus shipping/tax/etc... |
