Yea I know all the Hi point haters.... Has anyone taken a barrel off of a Hi point carbine? I have not taken it down far enough to look. There is a thread on here asking. With no helpful replies and well over 10 years old. It looks like 4595 and 995 models are similar. From what I have read and grainy pictures... It looks like a roll pin and maybe some kind of rivet?? I found a tiny thread about the rivet hard to replace? Anyone replace one before? |

Some of your messages had acronyms that I did not recognize, and took offense too. Look at my post count on this forum and you will know I do not frequent here... I tried looking up some of the things you posted and came up with nothing. So they all pretty much sounding like slams. I did find several threads on the internet about people asking similar questions and every reply so far has been slams on the original poster. One of them was on this site. I thought you were just being another one of the jerks. I am sorry if I took it the wrong way. But you can understand how offensive you seem. |

I've shot a JHP .45 at 130 yds from kneeling at an ARFCOM shoot, and hit the 5x3' target every time. @Commando223 You'll find I'm quite a booster for HiPoint. I stock them at my gun show table, and I'm quite a fan of the .45 version, both pistol & carbine, b/c of the ability to change the magazine catch to use stock 1911 magazines. |

The HiPoint is a modern STEN - made as efficiently as possible of the least expensive materials - like a SIG P320, but a HiPoint won't shoot your testicle off. |

Ok, back to what I found. Once field stripped there are 2 things holding the barrel to the receiver. One is a roll pin that can be relatively easy tapped out with a punch. Supporting with a vise is a plus. The other is a special rivet that holds a lever on the back side. Seems to be the only way to remove is to drill it. I used an 11/64 bit. Drilled until i hit the bottom. (Maybe 1/8" deep) It still held the curl of the rivet. (So I didn't drill into the frame.) I took a punch and was able to get the crimp to snap free with out damage to barrel or receiver. Maybe I could have heated and punched to save the rivet, but that may have caused damage to the receiver. The rivet is very unique and Hi Point was able to send me replacements. They said free of charge, but wanted me to pay $6 shipping. They did ask for serial #s for their records. Here is a picture of the pin.  |
