We are moving out to some land soon and won't have a good place for my gun safe, ammo and other gun stuff inside the house. It may be safer outside of the house anyway since we are moving into a trailer house. We *were* going to have a walk in safe room in a new house, but a bad contractor ruined that for us, so the trailer house is plan B while that all gets sorted out in court and we regroup. We're in a very low crime rural area, but obviously I still want to take some security precautions: I plan to get PoE cameras watching the only driveway, and area around the containers. I've been recommended Ubiquiti or however that's spelled by a friend that does security installs. Good locks for the container doors and maybe fabricate some lock covers for those, just need to get ideas there, haven't had time to research that, also needs to be somewhat convenient for me to get in and out often. I can keep the guns locked in my "safes" (RSC's really) inside the locked container of course. That's about all I've thought of without going to a bunch of work making a saferoom inside the container. One thing I am worried about is condensation with our Oklahoma temp swings and humidity, especially in the spring when concrete slabs and everything still cold is sweating bad. Other than getting an active dehumidifier in the safe I don't see much I can do about that. Open to suggestions if I've missed something! |

I've done the vacuum pack thing for long term storage, usually double sleeve. The Cabela's rolls are more puncture proof. |

Sorry, I guess my post was probably a little unclear, I'll be getting this stuff in and out a lot, not long term storage. Probably even have a workbench in there for gun projects. The container is basically just serving as a quick and easy shed in the backyard. I changed the wording a little on the OP |

The contract that I read did not allow guns, ammo, plants, perishables, and more. That said, I put mine in a large clothing box with a hanger rack as part of the box. They were well hidden and padded to the extreme. 5 days later they arrived just as I had packed them. The plants survived just fine. It was an 1100 mile trip. ETA;hurr durr, I didn't read the OP's post very well. I wouldn't store guns outside of 24/7 HVAC. Period. |

When I moved from Alaska I had my goods shipped in a 20' connex from the gulf of Alaska to Kent Wa. it took 12 days to make the journey I had rifles in safes in the back of the connex. Upon receipt there were no issues with rust or anything else. My connex was sealed by the carrier, so security wasn't a problem. If you have power to the connex, you can insert some golden rods into the safes, so humidity can be mitigated. |

I already have them in an attached garage with no HVAC, hasn't been too much of a problem there, but temp swings will be worse in the container. If I keep the lesser used blued guns oiled every couple years in my current garage I have been fine, switching to engine oil over gun oils helped a lot also. |
| I use my 40' container as a safe. 2x4 interior walls/ceiling and insulation. Looking to add drywall this summer. I put in a steel exterior door with electronic lock. I keep a heater and portable AC in the unit, as temps and humidity here is wild as well. |

I put 2 40 ft high cubes near the barn. had electric service put into both. Added a radiant barrier inside and put LED lights in with motion sensor. And those little dehumidifiers, the size of a coffee maker in each. It seems they are adequate to dry out that size, as I guess the air infiltration is small with the doors closed. I have been surprised to walk into one and feel a noticeable difference in humidity. So get it wired, or un a long ass orange cord to it and put one of these amazon craptastic unit in it. I empty the 1 qt basin a few times a week. |

I may end up with a real shop building or starting over on a house of some kind soon enough not to worry about finishing out a ccontainer. Leaning toward a shop first, I'm going to miss having a garage really bad when we move out there! |

I like being able to lock the exterior doors whenever I am away, pretty rock solid as far as secure goes. |

A small but welcome win in our whole moving process that's gone mostly wrong so far, I didn't realize the one trip containers I bought already had a padlock hasp with a welded steel box around it on the doors! So less work for me, I just need to find some quality locks |

A quick search shows there is a straight sliding style lock for this purpose I need to look into. |

Just got done living in 2 fifth wheels for 3 years. Had all my extra tools and stuff in connexes. Few days ago I moved my safe that had been in one of the containers for 2.5 ish years. When I drug it out and lifted it up with the backhoe I found a little rust and the wood floor of the container didn’t look as amazing as it did (it was visibly damp). Having no help to get things done I think it was an acceptable amount of…damage. Hindsight I would have elevated it off the floor at least a little bit with some stickers. Since I plan to put it in the non climate controlled garage of my new place I’ll probably do that this time so there is a little air flow under there. Could be that the container sitting in the gravel and then the safe directly on the wood floor was the issue, but at this point I don’t want to deal with rust issues again. This was in Western Montana. |

This is the type of lock I need to fit in the factory lock box on my containers: https://a.co/d/01cMsDb (Amazon Link) I've seen it called a monoblock padlock or also a shutter lock, not sure what the proper name is. I'm trying to narrow down what the decent quality choices are, and find somewhere to get 4 of them keyed alike for my 2 containers with doors at both ends. |
