Very cool. I am no expert but i saw something that made me wonder why; on the top hex flat there is a Peter the Great stamp. On my M39 it’s ground off, supposedly done by Russians post revolution. Yours has a stamp but it also looks like it was ground off there prior to the stamp. I am curious about that kind of history. Attached File |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

I wonder if the circle area under the stamp is some kind of spot annealing so they can stamp it. I love all the older receiver markings……your style, Chatellerault, NEW, Remington. |

Dude, that is awesome. I have some weird ones, but yours is weirder (and far more valuable!) I wound up with an M91/38. Date is from 1903, I think. I also have an M91 with an 1895 barrel shank date, which is the oldest one I've ever seen in person. (we should have a Mosin thread) |

i thought i was going to get that one , the guy you bought it from was trying to sell it to a shop i buy from , J&S Pawn , they sent me a pic and asked if i was interested , they could not make the deal , he also had a polish m44 and a polish Tok i wanted nice score |

Bass Pro is run by idiots for the most part. Keep in mind if they sold it to you for $570 they likely only paid $400 for it . (guy who sold it was stupid also) I don't claim to be any kind of expert but as soon as I had seen the hex (as a buyer or seller )I would have spent 10 minutes on the computer to get a rough idea of the value. Nice find OP, I am not a huge fan of the MN but I am very jealous |
