I have a fairly early model Sr25 I picked up for a song. Early 1990s match grade model made in Vero beach. Friend of friend thinks the gas rings are worn out since the bolt will not stay up and based on symptoms. Getting a frequent enough failure to cycle the bolt. I saw some legacy bolt repair kits, but if I just want to try the gas rings is there a specific kind for sr25 or will the ar10 work? |
| I would reach out to Operation Parts. I've bought a lot of small SR-25 parts over the years. Sometimes you have a wait time, but I'd rather have the real deal than something that is not spec. |

What ammunition and what magazines are you using? Tried the original waffle mags and modern p mags. Used a lot of 168 grain sierra match king, both from the 1990s and modern production. tried some Hornady and prvi partisian as well with same malfunction. Not super familiar but I do believe the bolt is what is failing to consistently fully cycle. It’s nots every shot but intermittent enough that I notice. All in all I love the rifle, optic, and accuracy. Consistently performing superb at 600 yards with it. I want it to cycle, and not afraid to sink money in it. But if I can fix it for a few bucks instead of hundred(s) which is why I’m asking. |
