So after picking up a PTR-91 I decided to start my G3 build. I currently have most of what I need including a surplus barrel. Considering which way to go on this one. I love the PTR but thinking of a shorter build to make it a bit handier. So my question for the hive is 14ish inch build is a little easier since I can shorten the barrel I have and use the existing cocking tube, and keeps the long sight radius vs the 12.5” is shorter but a little more work. Ballistically there probably isn’t much difference 12 vs 14 and I don’t want anything shorter as if I want a flamethrower I will purchase one. So any suggestions would be appreciated. |

I've always wanted one of the 12.5" G3K guns and will eventually get one. I almost pulled the trigger on buying one, but a POF 12.5" small frame .308 popped up cheap, so it went home with me. The POF was nearly half the money, so it was a no brainer. I used to have a full sized PTR-91 that had the barrel chopped to 14.5" and the flash hider pinned to make it 16" OAL. I really liked the gun and how long the sight radius was. I won't say it was a handy rifle, but it did handle well for its weight. Something new got my attention and it got traded off. It was shortly after the 12.5" guns came out, so I knew I'd eventually get one of those. The G3K keeps getting knocked to the back of the list as I keep getting a deal on something. |
