How to ship 5K of pistol primers from NC to Oklahoma?
Found a good deal on them from local person.
Hazmat and shipping from the best courier.
Thanks.

I believe you need to be a licensed HAZMAT shipper to do that.  Joe Blow cannot just ship HAZMAT.

I could be wrong.

Thanks I usually buy them from a store but have a chance to get 5K enough for a couple of years at least. I just need to get them from here to there. Shipped ammunition some time ago and just printed out labels and shipped through UPS paying a fee of course.

Cheaper than this?

https://americanreloading.com/collections/primers

$165/5k primers, shipped; - easy and legal and clear.  Vs some random dude's primers stored God knows how, and who knows how complete, sent via questionable methods...

I concur.
The biggest thing to me is not getting in trouble with the Feds with shipping.

Shipping ammo is a different thing than primers. Primers are hazmat and ammo isn’t.

It’s correct as mentioned above that you need to be certified to legally ship hazmat items.

Well the primers in question will cost me a silver dollar. Do all gun stores have hazmat licenses? This is a small established gunstore that sells suppressors as well.

I would venture to say that 99% + of gunshops will not have the ability to do hazmat shipping.  The few that do will be because they sell a ton of primers and powders online.

Ammo is easy by comparison.  You are gonna lose all that savings in paying someone to ship it, and honestly I have no idea who that shipper would even turn out to be…if anyone.
a loaded gun won’t set you free, so you say…

They could be free, but that does not change that it is going to be extremely hard to find a hazmat shipper in that guys area. Who knows what they would charge too.
Possibly more than what you can buy them for new online.

Just know, if they just put them in a box and ship them through the post office, fedex or ups, they are breaking federal law. So do not do it.
As mentioned, the shipper has to be licensed to ship hazmat. Joes blows gun shop does not have this license.

It would probably be easier to just drive out there and get them in person.

This is the correct answer.

However, here is one legal workaround.

Primed brass is legal to ship same as ammo. So if your seller would take the time to load each primer into case they could be legally shipped.

Is it worth the time to do that? Probably not. So it would be easier to just pick them up in person.

A gun store is selling you 5000 primers for a $30 value Silver dollar?

So that's unusual.

As to shipping- their problem.  You aren't there. "It is assumed they will of course ship appropriately, here is my address.  Where shall I send the Silver dollar to?  Please advise if an additional $30 value Silver dollar is needed to cover your expenses"

A hazmat license starts with a $6500.00 week long Fed class and a few thousand a year renewal.  (Last time I asked a few years ago)

Even the big reloading place here does not have one. You don't need one to receive primers but you must have one to ship them and the $250K fine and 10 years in jail could be considered a deterrent to slip under the radar.
But hey $250K to save $50.00 might be worthwhile to some.
FedEx, UPS etc do not have that license either so you can not ship with them unless you have that license.
Forbidden territory IMO

Sure. But OP isn't there, he's not the one actually doing anything.  Apparently he got a great deal on primers, but seller is basically saying FOB, and on OP to figure how to get them.  Which doesn't work, he's not there.   unless they decide willimg to ship (which is no) or he arranges 3rd party to ship - which pragmatically is no, or he finds a friend willing to go and pick them up, which is his best route - if he actually can find a friend there to do it.  Which will have a cost more than the primers.

As to federal crime. ... sure. If you are commercially shipping primers for profit and a plane explodes from it, then yes, you will be in trouble.  But in reality people ship stuff all the time....  oh I need a license for that?  not saying I would or worth it, but yea.

In this case, unless OP has a friend to call to go get them for him - for cheap or free, then this deal doesn't actually work.  Sorry.

Can you share a reference to this?

What I read is you need is a UPS Account. Then you need a hazmat agreement. I think these are just paperwork. Then you need training. That look is like it can be done online for under $500. My employer offers it, but I have not taken it. Then you need to use UPS Worldship….which will charge you a $58 per shipment fee plus probably charge a small shipper UPS retail pricing which is like 3-500% of Pirate Ship.

From what I can see, we would all have this if Pirate Ship upgraded to allow HazMat! We need to petition them! The entire reloading community shipping powder and primers would be a game changer!

I sold some primers on EE.
A friend of the buyer, a hotshot delivery driver, met me at a rest stop about 15 miles from my home.
