Some SDTA titanium B tube specs. These are unmodified parts, all of which are titanium except the freeze plugs.
Tube 7.6" long at 6.13 ounces with an inner diameter of 1.14" (my calipers only go to 2 digits) and an outer diameter of 1.31" Spacer is 3.98" long at 1.25 ounces with an inner diameter of 1.04" and an outer diameter of 1.12" Freeze plugs are steel at 0.34" long and averaged 12.6 grams or 0.444 ounces (range was 12.5g to 12.7g) with and inner diameter of 1.01" and an outer diameter of 1.13" End cap is 0.64" long and weighs in at 1.365 ounces I got a 1/2x28 thread protector which is 0.64" long as well and weighs 1.224 ounces |

It seems Super Precision Concepts is authorized to sell Rusty's RSC baffles. When paired with DHC clipping, they may be the best baffles Form 1 baffle stack builders can get their hands on. Things like this are said: "There's no 3rd party testing" "The wrong meter was used" "It wasn't done to mil-spec" "Why wasn't XYZ silencer used for comparison?" Yet, a bunch of form 1 makers say how great the baffles are (because their ears and friends tell them) and it's taken as the gold standard. And without any testing to verify performance. Especially when you can buy a decent Form 4 suppressor the about the same cost as these "solvent trap" kits. I'm aware of several SOT's who have replicated the designs posted on the form 1 boards (to be the best performing) and weren't beside themselves by the results. Just an observation. Carry on. |

There’s folks who test designs and baffle stacks etc with meters on the forums. And many of the designs are “inspired” by production cans as well. A lot of the cans I’ve seen people make are top notch with quick connect adapters for griffin or sico etc. I’ve also seen a few mp5SD cans that are diy’d and perform the same or better than the proper ones. Additionally there’s quite the premium on not wasting 10+ months of your life waiting on a form 4 vs getting a eFiled form 1 in 3-4 weeks. I form 1’d a can the same week I purchased a Vox and a Ghost because I’d like to go hunting this year with my 300 blackout suppressed and the likelihood my form 4s coming in before 2020 is about nonexistent. One last thing, you can put together a 22lr or even a 9mm can that performs good enough for around $100 + stamp + engraving etc. |

That's why I used "May be" and "Form 1 builders" There's production cans out there that do better, but we can only build a can once. Not R&D allowed. The "quieter" can might be louder on a meter but punching out a frequency that sounds softer to the shooter, and that can vary from person to person. How is sounds is about the best we get. There's plenty more variables to can building than slapping some awesome baffles in it, but I'm not sure I've run across a Form 1'er who knows what he's doing complaining about the performance of RSC cones. It's always been positive, whether they sent one in for a re-core or duplicated a prior build with RSC cones. Just my observation.  I'll find out myself soon enough. The can I'm waiting for approval on will be using the RSC's, and it's identical to a 60* cone can, just bored out for 30 cal as apposed to 5.56. I'm interested to see if the RSC 30 cal can will sound better than the 5.56 cone can when both used on the 5.56 as I've seen claimed. And yes, you can spend just as much or more making your own but at least you don't have to wait as long! |
