Was trying to zero my new to me fightlight MCR this weekend. Moved my Elcan Specter to the Fightlight from my Block 2 and when shooting 1 round would be on target, and then the next would be 8" low. the 3rd round would then be back up with the 1st round, followed by the 4th round being low again. I was shooting from a magazine for the site in and not a belt. I triple checked barrel was locked in. I do have a suppressor on it, and triple checked that it too was not loose and did the rod check, no baffle strikes. Hoping someone has any ideas as to the why. Is it just how these things work? Am I wasting time with a magnified optic? 16" barrel version shooting M855, gas setting 2 8" shift was at 50 yards. Thanks |

What does it do with irons without the Elcan? If it shoots good, repeatable groups, then you know it's the Elcan. If it doesn't shoot good groups with irons, remove the suppressor and shoot it again. I don't care what your rod told you. Your rod isn't going to tell you anything about how stable the bullets are, so you could still be getting baffle strikes, just barely enough to destabilize the bullet. |

I'm not sure of a good way to fix that, but maybe install some shims somewhere to take the play out? We install adjustment screws on our top covers to eliminate any play in the latch, but I'm not sure if there is a good place on the fightlite to drill and tap for one of those screws. Let us know if you figure out a solution. |

Will be running again this weekend to check. I'll do mags and belts without the suppressor. That being said, with the frt shooting g at the 50 yard berm all rounds are hitting the steel plate, so I dunno. Will report back with results Saturday afternoon. Other than this little quirk, the gun has been running great. |

ok took it out and followed all the recommendations posted above. Before I took it out, I put the Elcan back to mechanical zero, or factory zero. I did this because I thought I felt a little movement up and down in the scope and I recalled while zeroing that it felt like it wasn't moving while adjusting the elevation. My buddy and I shot with irons (unsupressed) 1st at 50 yards, adjusted irons to be on and no big shifts. Then we put the Elcan back on, bore sighted the scope, and finalized the zero and no big shifts. Repeated the zero of the Elcan while suppressed and no big shifts. One other thing I did do is to move the Elcan up one notch on the pic rail as it looked like it may have been hitting the rear site ears. There are at least some marks on them that match up with where the scope was. I'm 90% sure that there was space between the ears and the scope when initially mounted, but no pics to prove otherwise and the marks either prove me wrong or this thing is just so violent that it made the scope make contact. It has shaken loose my Mawl and flashlight. So in conclusion, either my scope was being wonky, or it was hitting the ears of the rear site. Either way, no more massive shifts. Appreciate everyone's help. This thing rocks, and so far it seems to feed not just M855, but also hasn't had any issues with the 200rnds of 55gr I've run through it. |
