I am thinking about picking up some three cell magazine shingles for my FLC and have some questions. After I install them my plan is to run other equipment on the shingles itself. How floppy or weak is the fabric? I want to run two magazine shingles on both sides and then two double magazine pouches with an admin pouch and an IFAK. I will then look to put two canteen pouches either towards on my side or on my back. Can I offset the magazine shingles on the front? If so, will this add more strength when I add the double magazine pouches to it? One row of MOLLE will be used on the vest for the double magazine pouch and a row on the shingle. I don’t have the FLC in front of me yet so I can’t figure it all out. Maybe skipping the shingles would be best but I was thinking this would allow me to run the pouches I want with the 8-10 mags. |

They’re pretty floppy to start with. I hate how there are only three columns of PALS on the back; it makes the entire pouch sit off kilter once mounted. It’s six wide but ends up covering seven rows. There’s no elegant way to shore them up/add more straps on the back. My thinking was running two of them. One on my left and one on my right side. I would then attach one magazine pouch to both left and right side and then my IFAC on left side and GP pouch on right side. I was thinking it would get floppy. Makes sense. I’ll pass on that idea. Total mags I would scale it is 8-10. |

And yes, I agree with ^^ - any of the major manufacturer's mag shingles will be significantly better than those surplus triple mag pouches. Those surplus triple mag pouches are probably the worst pouch they issue. I mean. They WORK. But the other pouches are way better. (Some of the issue pouches are downright good. At least for issue stuff.) |

They are great multi-purpose pouches, and you can get a 12 pack or whatever of them in ACU cheap, and dye them) Like you said. Not high speed, but if that's what I go handed...hey, there's definitely worse stuff out there, and this works and is relatively durable. EDIT: Also, I like the spray paint dabble job. You take more time with yours than I do with spare rigs. I just do a light coat of tan and light green - like a fine misting - to cloud up and make it look 'dirty' (moreso of this if it is ACU pattern, as there is so much white-ish color in the pattern) - then do a few quick, short diagonal stripes of dark green and brown to break up the shapes. I figure in the end that if it's actually used, the paint will wear off in random places, making it break up more anyways. It also helps to dye the gear (specifically if it is ACU...and desert too if you live in a woodland environment) to darken the overall pattern before doing the above. It's still worth misting it (it makes it look duller and 'dirty') and the stripes help break up the overall pattern. |

He takes q-tips and paint and goes over the pouches and gear and makes his own pattern. It’s wild and looks good and looks like it would be very ti e consuming too. |

Yea, he just uses the same camo spray paint and sprays it into a plastic bowl then uses the q-tips from there. Yea, it's time consuming, but it's like a hobby, ya know? I do alot of stuff like that - sharpening knives for instance, or hand-sewing buttons, etc. - during my TV / movie watching time. |

My wife only watches TV while she folds laundry. It's how she justifies it to herself (the TV, not the laundry). |
