I've reached out to the usual vendors and waiting to hear back but does anyone know of any vendor who had a receiver wrench and barrel vise in stock? Cheers |

Gunthings.com had most of the tools available when I ordered from him a month or two ago. His website doesn't allow for direct ordering, so you have to email him what items you are looking for, or call using the phone number listed. I did that and had a phone call from him shortly after I sent it in, and he made sure I was set up properly. It looks like he is showing Mark's armorers manual as out of stock, but you can usually go direct from Arizona Response Systems for the book which I would recommend because it contains a ton of info and drawings which can help with assembly and understanding what is going on between various components. Barrel vise might be harder to come by. I had to grab mine from Brownells with their FAL barrel insert because like you are finding most places don't have one in stock and I couldn't get a response from a few of them. |

FALtools.com still has stuff and did ship. First build went together last night in my fking oven of a garage. Couldn't tell if the parts kit was covered in oil or my sweat. The kit survived a jungle, it'll survive me. I had to put a WTB ad up to get timing rods. The guy that sells the two piece set needs you to like call during business hours or something and I couldn't be arsed to do that. As far as I can tell, there is ZERO source for the received wrench, barrel vice, and timing rods at the same time. Why someone doesn't sell a "do it all" batch is fking beyond me. I threw in the towel on cranking off the receiver stub. Had to dremel and split it. If you want to be prepared, have a good file set in case you have to take material off the barrel shoulder. Have a dremel to cut off receiver stub, and chisel/punches to split the stub. Also, work in an area with air conditioning. Fk me. I got the receiver / barrel wrench from brownells and dsa a few months ago when I built my lebanese (syrian?) kit. I reused the locking shoulder and it headspaced fine and shoots great. I didn't use timing rods and just eyeballed it. Attached File |
