I received an approved Form 1 last Friday, when I went to get the receiver engraved, I noticed that instead of the actual model number, P416, I had mistakenly entered P415 as the model number. The pictures I had attached showed the model as P416, yet it was all approved. Can I just send a hand signed email to the [email protected] address requesting amendment, or do I have to request to void the entire thing and resubmit? The Ask The Experts FAQ isn't clear on this. UPDATE: I submitted a request to make the correction on 2 May, received the response in the mail today (27 June) approving the amendment. So, this was a reasonably easy process to fix. |

| So just initiate another Form 1 for the same SBR, and then void/cancel the old one? I didnt see that at all on the Ask The Experts FAQ. The problem with that is I live in VA, and its likely any Form 1's still pending will be cancelled on 1 July, when the "Assault Weapons" ban goes into effect. Then I'd be stuck with a rifle I can't convert. Yeah, I know, this is an error of my own making and I live in a crappy state. I was hoping I could just get ATF to amend it without having to start over. |

| I wouldn’t submit a new form. The new form would be disapproved bc it is already registered. I would send a letter asking for the existing form be updated in essence like a caliber or barrel length change. Then I’d save the confirmation email to my electronic files on my phone with a copy to my laptop. |

The stamp might be approved but you couldn’t make the firearm, at least not in Virginia. |

Basically I used this format: FROM: Name Address Phone Number Date To: National Firearms Act Branch Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives 244 Needy Road Martinsburg, WV 25405 RE: Correction of SBR Registration (Form 1) Applicant: Your Name Firearm Serial Number: XXXXXX Form 1 Control Number: XXXXX To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to respectfully request an amendment regarding an approved Form 1. I submitted the Form 1 with the correct serial number, XXXXXX, but incorrectly entered the model number as XXXX when it is actually XXXX, which matches the picture I submitted with the Form 1. I respectfully request an amendment to the Form 1 correcting the model number, changing it to XXXX. Very Respectfully, This part is important. You must hand sign the email. Weird but apparently, they will not accept digital signatures. You can print, sign, scan, and send, or insert an image of your signature. |
