I have my detached 10x10 vault / tornado shelter. I have power in it now but we are on solar / battery so I don’t want an energy hog! I’m trying right now and have the kilowatt meter on it now Attached File I don’t think it’s going to work. I can put it in the safe that’s in there though so no big loss. What’s a good dehumidifier for a small space like mine? I plan on sealing walls, closing off air vents when not in it, and sealing the door better. For my test I sealed it up pretty good. I’ll check it in the morning but it was at 70% |

that will not work for the room, it is just a low watt heater, you need to get a condenser below dew point. i built a book case dehumidifier with a 1.25" peltier effect module, with a small cold sink and a large heat sink in such a way as to thermally convect airflow, the low point of the cold side dripped into a jug. |

| I have a 8’x6’ room that is poured concrete foundation exterior walls on 2 sides and inner foundation walls on the other 2 sides in the basement. The ceiling is also poured concrete. The walls are sealed and I have a vault door on it. My plan was for that to be a “gun room” and storm shelter. The humidity very early on convinced me it just wasn’t possible. Those cold walls in the summer are nice to keep the temps stable, but it gets 70% humidity easily with the door closed and sometimes higher. I do keep a dehumidifier going in there but it is an older/big 50 pint that is way too big for the room. I never have to empty the bucket but it runs probably 50-60% of total day just raising the internal temp of room. W/o dehumidifier running it would stay low 60’s but with it running it typically gets 75+ and that keeps the % humidity at bay. I would not keep guns in there as it is just a disaster waiting to happen for me. |
