It has been a while since I've been back in the Form 4 game. When I tried to submit an eForm 4, it kept asking for my control number, but my approved paper Form 4 doesn't have a control number anywhere on it. Also eform drop down menu doesn't have any sear or model name of LL. It's an SWD Lightning Link that was transferred to me about 8 years ago on a paper Form 4. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any thoughts? Is submitting a paper Form 4 the only option in this situation? |

When you attempt to add the firearm I'm assuming? Adding by control number is one option but there should also be an option to "Find by SSN & Serial Number". Have you tried that? Make sure the info you are putting in the eform 4 matches exactly what's on your approved form. |

There are various search options, but they all end up at the same place, namely finding the control number, which is what actually goes in the add firearm train stop. Definitely the first thing to do when searching is put everything in exactly as on your paper form 4, but be aware that they didn’t always put them into the system exactly as written. I did four Form 4s, and two out of the four didn’t match exactly the paper. There were differences like having a space or dash or not on the model, the caliber being a different variation (e.g. .300 BO being listed as just 300 or .300), and if the trust name has a dash, the dash may be replaced by a space. I had to spend a bit of time trying various permutations of things to get the system to find a couple of my items. |
| I had the same problem with a paper Form 4 silencer. It predated the eForms control number system. You need to email “ask an expert” and they will send you a control number after they add it to eForms. Check the details of the firearm after they do so as they got the manufacturer of my suppressor wrong during the transcription process. Be patient - it can take up to 90 days. |
