Or does this mean that they won't do the initial core of a form 1? Can you send a tube that is threaded for the barrel on one end and already drilled on the opposite end? |

Yes, From when I had them recore one… To be eligible for this service, you'll need to have an approved tax stamp and a complete silencer first, as we cannot do anything that would convert a non-silencer into a silencer for you, and we cannot perform work on illegal silencers. You'll need to send in the complete, legal silencer that meets the ATF definition with all existing components. We require a copy of your approved tax stamp as well. ATF defines a silencer as minimally a tube with a mount and a front cap with a bore at least large enough to pass a projectile of the caliber listed on the approved form (there is no maximum bore size, but listed caliber is the minimum). The silencer sent must match the accompanying approved Form 1/Form 4 or filed amendment for engraved information, length and caliber. ATF has stated that +/- 1” of what is on the Form 1 (or amendment) is the acceptable range for silencer length. We can replace any part of a silencer except the main tube. We cannot, however, change the caliber or length of a silencer, except for the “minimal shortening as necessary for repair purposes” outlined by ATF. If your engraving is of insufficient depth or size (minimum 1/16” character height to a depth of .003”), we will have to re-engrave prior to returning it to you |

Will have one of this guy's conversions in hand this week to take a look at. From what I've seen his work is equal to ECCO's. Was a 5 week turnaround time for a fully welded/sealed tubless conversion with HUB mount conversion as well I was told. It was costly on the upper range of what the few that are left for these services are asking, though. From what my friend told me: MB Machine wanted ~$450 for a 'tube and spacer' build and upwards of $650 for a custom cone design. MB will not do fully welded only screwed ends. Very good machinist tho. Shaw/Thunder Cans wanted ~$500 for a fully welded SS cone design but no HUB or etc AND said it would take 6-9 months to complete. Also heard of issues with this company in comms and etc but have no experience there. Riotcontrolweapons AKA Scott AKA Scott's Silencer Service does basic recores for ~$450 and lead time of 4-6 weeks. He can also do monocores and many other things. His fully laser-welded sleeveless recore with SS clipped cone baffles and HUB mount was quoted at $665. From what I've heard/seen in the pics, though, he is the best option for custom recore work at this time that is comparable to ECCO in ability and custom work. |
