I am looking for a way to store handguns that is attached to the inside of the safe door. Something that uses minimum space (flat), won't mar the handguns, but is very secure. Modularity would be a plus. I saw a thing with velcro which would be convenient as I have several different sizes from a small 380 to 1911's to a S&W 629 and Anschutz Exemplars with large scopes. The panel on the door has something like carpeting and is 50 3/8" high, 20 1/4" wide. Thanks! |

| I have looked at the velcro ones. That would give me that maximum flexibility as to placement. I am wondering if the velcro is strong enough that they will stay attached. Industrial velcro is certainly strong enough. Will is be able to properly grip the material on the inside of my door? |

My safe's door had a thin piece of carpet covered pressboard on the inside. I pulled that off and replaced it with 1/4" plywood and covered it with marine carpet. Transferred the mounting hole locations from the press board sheet, then checked to see that the door would still close and lock properly. Then, I put the plywood panel out and laid it horizontal on some sawhorses. Next, I laid out a bunch of handgun hangers from Vertical Gun Racks (with guns placed in / on them to check for clearance etc). When it all looked good I drilled pilot holes and screwed the hangers down. Some larger revolvers don't play well with those holders, in those cases I use two screw in hooks covered in several coats of PlastiDip. Same idea as the VGR hangers (pivot point in the trigger guard, and another pin to let the barrel rest against and set the orientation), just more clearance at the expense of your time and a not as professional look. The VGR stuff works quite well in my experience, for the rifles and carbines also, and if you are a little creative can be very flexible. (E.g. screw them onto a few big magnets and you have a movable rifle holder.) But they have apparently gotten quite a bit pricier from when I did my safe door. |

I started with Velcro holders. Those worked, more or less, but I found that after moving them a few times the carpeting was starting to pile and shred, and the press board panel was starting to get loose. That's when I went to plywood and screw on hangers. Those can be moved pretty easily, by the way |

I just tried some industrial velcro. Does not hold at all to the 'carpet' on my safe door. I don't think wood inside the safe is such a good idea due to flammability. |

What's under the "carpet" on your safe door? I'm guessing something that's sturdy and can accept fasteners.

I think it would hold fasteners. When the safe was delivered the guy took the cover off to change the combination. It seemed pretty heavy when he was putting it back on. |

| Molle looks like a good answer. Unfortunately the one on Amazon is too wide. I only have 20 1/4" so whatever I add will need to be narrower than that. |

You miss the width on the medium by about an inch. The next size down is 16” but the site says they reach out to33” wide door panels. I’d feel better with molle over velcro by far. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

So far, a Molle panel that I screw to the door panel looks like the best solution. Then I still need to figure out the actual pistol holder. Can anyone identify the clips holding the pistols at the top of this door?

I have been contemplating my safe door as well. My safe came with a built in door organizer containing 12 pistol pockets, mesh pockets and a couple document pockets. Trouble is the pistol pockets are on top of each other so the barrel of a 6" revolver in a top pocket hits the pistol below it plus the material is starting to pull away from the fire board. My solution is to purchase a sheet of loop velcro, I found a 60" wide by the yard length for $16.00 on line. One yard will cover my door. The plan is to use spray adhesive and fasteners to secure the Velcro to the fire board. Depending on the condition of the fire board I might cut a 1/2 sheet of sanded on one side plywood to replace the fire board. Stealth Velcro backed holster look like a good option to take care of my pistol pockets needs. The magnetic or plastic mag holders should take care of some mag storage. I haven't figured out a couple document pockets yet but a small document safe might be in order so I can get that junk out of my safe. |
