It's from Broadhead Armory, they made several that are transferable. It's a direct replacement for the semi-auto firing pin and makes the gun full-auto only.  |

Thompsons are a bargain right now, for reasons unknown. They were always the same price as Colt M16s in the past, now they are lagging by $10k I mean regular arsenal WWII rebuilds, not the high end collector samples. Just scrape together $30k and by a nice WWII gun. Semi-autos are crappy quality and they have that ridiculous 16" barrel on them. |

Broadhead Armory was an alter ego/business operated by Daniel Hunter. Trenton, MI - IIRC. There appears to be some uncertainty as to how many were made and how many were registered as Mr. Hunter, along with several other individuals, including the inventor of the DIAS, George Dodson, got into legal troubles. [You can find court records online.] It appears that 25 registered BA FPs is probably the correct, if not the most common guess. At least some have been modified to operate in semi auto mode as well as full auto. I don't know what the modification involves. If you're an Uzitalk.com member, you can look to the Classifieds section and note that one sold recently with an asking price of $25K, but actual sale price is not stated. A known issue with Thompson firing pins of the shape used is their tendency to break off the tip of the firing pin. While repair that does not get into or modify the registration number section of the part appears possible, I'm not willing to gamble multiple thousands of dollars on such a venture. MHO, YMMV, etc. |
