It is a novel design but they keep simplifying the design and still aren’t really hitting the magic combo to make it reliable and accurate. The first couple years I was hopeful but at this point I wouldn’t want to get obsoleted by the next “we promise we fixed it this time, for real, no lies!” model. Maybe the next version will be called the HNYBDGR. |

Maybe the next version will be called the HNYBDGR. Its an accurate rifle (223 and 6.5 for sure!). How accurate will depend the individual shooters needs/wants. I have seen 5 shot groups that are sub moa and 10-20 shot groups that average 1ish moa (Mine and a couple others). As far as reliability, I haven't seen any complaints on this here, reddit or on either Facebook page in a LONG time. They keep going back and modifying the design at the request of users. I would think that would be a PRO for this company, especially since we now have the rifle in a weight Desert Tech promised us back in 2014...and those folks who wanted DT to go away from the forward eject system, got their wish with the current rifle.Tho..I still prefer that system over the side eject and its worked well in the rifle(s) I have. |

So I posted my convo here. https://www.ar15.com/forums/general/SHOT-SHOW-2025-Lazy-s-2025-Review-SVD-SFAR-SWAG-Pile-and-more-BONUS-AVN-side-trip-/5-2774548/?r=112190022&page=1&anc=112190022#i112190022 Basically they are FINALLY going to look at moving the gas-tap further down for the 20" 6.5 Creedmoor guns. As a guy with a $2500 MDRx shotgun when shooting full-house heavy loads, I've basically retired my MDRx. That's not completely fair, I've developed loads that I've tweaked that it shoots quite well, but are basically hot Grendel power level, to stop flexing too much to do it. And if I want 6.5 Creedmoor, I run my SFAR at about half the weight and 3X better accuracy. If I want bullpup goodness, I run my 5.56 RDB mostly now. I've pretty much retired my AUG as well, in fact. SO! If they can do WLVRN weight savings upgrades, AND tighten up the trunion, AND improve accuracy by moving the gas tap down farther than "SBR .300 BO distance", I'm interested. So - I'm going to sit. I'm not touching a WLVRN; I'm already $2500 down. But I'll keep eyes open for "DEDPOL" or whatever they come up with a longer gas system. |

I am confused..For 6.5cm guns, you want the gas block moved down or up on the barrel? SBR 300BO distance is not where the gas block is now (9" mark) and would require a rework of the charging handles..Down the barrel to the 16" mark (On a 20" barrel) is what I'm hoping you mean. I currently have my 6.5cm kit back at DT. It worked but seemed to be overgased and the adjuster didn't seem to have progressively larger ports in it..They all seemed 1 size and I was shooting on the S- setting. I wonder if they do this with the 6.5cm..will they do it with the 308 as I think It really needs it (WLVRN and MDRX). |

Thank you for the share. I am definitely interested in a WLVRN with a rifle length gas system. I'd also be interested in an upper update for the MDRx that you hinted at, especially if they offer to rework existing 6.5/308 barrels. Such as a clamp on barrel block, plugged old gas port position, and a new piston/regulator combo. If they did that, I might even shell out the money for the accuracy upgrade that swaps out the oprod and glue in the barrel block. It just has to be priced reasonably enough to not have to make upgrading to a WLVRN the only reasonable choice (as that path also comes with considering upgrading to a different firearm). |

But keep in mind this is a casual floor conversation with a guy - and I've had several beers and slept since then. So don't put too much stock into it. Where I am right now, is after already being $2500 in the hole, it's got to be both lighter and more accurate, for me to play again. WLVRN is a good direction, but the accuracy IMHO still has room for improvement. And the goofy gas port location may be one contributor. So I'm going to give them one more generational improvement, before I play again. The guy did mention it was just a thought and they may not it for sure, but they very well might. I think they will. And either way, I'm not going back until they do, regardless. And like I said, I think they will. As to MDRx upgrades... we'll see. I don't have much confidence anything will happen here, and that seemed more an appeasement statement than an actual plan - but maybe! I wouldn't wait for that though. in the meantime, for my 6.5Creedmoor goodness, i've switched focus to the SFAR, and have pretty much retired my MDRx. I'd sell it to recover my loss, but at $2500 in, and the sale price today of used for like.. $1k, that's just a no. I'll wait until it has legacy cred and increases in value due to its rarity again. A $1500 loss is more sting than I really want right now! |

That being said, the ES 308 barrel went a long way to solving my accuracy issues, so I am not really disappointed in its performance. |

The Weight will be less than the 6 creed both from the brass and the magazines. 3. Mag Pouch compatibility, Being able to fit in STANAG is more convenient than an SR25 for mag retention. 4. Recoil, it is slightly reduced compared to 6mm arc, about 10% lower in the ARC which has its advantages. 5. If you want to compromise #1 (and probably #4) for the ARC and have a bolt head strong enough. Such as in a Chassis that can take 308 rated bolt heads -Hint Hint-, you can load the cartridge to bolt gun pressures and launch a 108 grain 2850 fps according to the Hornady reload spec safely. Note, this is only about 100 fps lower than 6mm creed box ammo. Good points, and why I went ARC over Creedmoor. @coldboremiracle your 6ARC experiments are amazing to read. Two great things about the WLVRN when it comes to 6ARC is the more robust bolt compared to an AR15, and the fact that you could come up with a magwell insert to use the new Magpul ICAR magazines. |
