| I just meant I sometimes think about getting rid of the Revolution for something else. The .308 Wlvrn is about the only rifle I could see taking its place as every other .308 is either way heavier or way bulkier. This review has (at least temporarily) cured my 'grass is always greener syndrome.' |

There's just something about a .308 battle rifle that really gets me going. Plus 6.5CM ammo is just too expensive to enjoy playing with in that role. For long range the furthest I can get to easily is a little over 800M and .308 works great at that distance, so no big advantage for 6.5CM there either, and the match ammo is still noticeably more expensive. The recoil impulse comparison in that video showed the recoil of the Wlvrn to be much worse than the SCAR, which I know is already noticeably worse than my Revolution. For that reason alone I don't think the Wlvrn could stand up to the Revolution for long range work, even if it were equally mechanically accurate, which I'm sure it is not. |

Ammo cost has come down and you can get some very nice 6.5cm ammo for same or better depending on the (match) bullet weight you prefer to shoot. The brake on the Scar is very good (I also hate the factory trigger).Also the full power guns (at least the early Wlvrns) seem to be way over gassed. Maybe I'll do a side by side for recoil with the Scar and Mdrx (unless I aquire a 308kit). |

List prices gor .308 and 6.5cm may be similar but I find .308 on sale often enough, never seen a deep sale on 6.5cm though I soppose I'm not looking for it. Just today bought this for under $.7/rd shipped: https://americanreloading.com/collections/american-munitions/products/am-308-win-147gr-fmj-ch-read-desc-free-shipping-500-rd The Scar I shot was suppressed and only shot it offhand, the brake could be a totally different experience to be fair to the platform. My experience was the recoil was both greater in magnitude than my POF and also very 'kerchunky' which I imagine will be difficult to recover from shooting prone. I assume that big bcg+ big piston slamming forward creates a complex recoil impulse that would make recovering quickly enough to spot your splash very hard. It seems to me any piston driven gun will require more gas to cycle and is going to be an uphill battle VS just using an AR for precision work. A comparison between the mdrx and scar would definitely be interesting. |

Going beyond that is where I think Desert Tech made a mistake with their early rifles—trying to frame comparisons against well-established platforms like the SCAR didn’t really land well. I might still do it.. **Update..His Scar is down..no parts available to replace the extractor retaining pin and c-clip.. As for ammo, I don’t typically shoot 147gr. I’m usually focused on wringing out maximum accuracy, so I tend to run 168 and 175gr loads. At that point, the cost is generally comparable to 140gr 6.5 Creedmoor projectiles anyway |
