My basement is mostly finished however I recently undertook a project to knock down a wall and build myself a small gun room. I’d like to install a dehumidifier however I don’t have direct access to a drain. There are two finished rooms between my new gun room and the utility room where the sump is. What options are available where I’m not going to be constantly emptying a tank and walking through finished rooms to empty it? |

It does not have to be exactly in the same room. It will work like a sponge "Sucking" humidity from surrounding areas. (One reason why, when you set one to absolute minimum it never stops because it is absorbing humidity from outside and such. An adjacent utility room... Is that where your sump pump is? The basic ~$150 ones from the big box store will work fine and have a nock-out; you can run a hose to have it drain into the sump. |

They make dehumidifiers with built in pumps. Our basement has no floor drain. Mine came with a 1/4" drain hose 25 feet long. I drilled a 1/4" hole in the corner of a window and ran it outside. 50-Pint Dehumidifier with Pump |
