https://danieldefense.com/dd5-sbr-762x51mm.html  I have wanted a shorter 308/7.62x51 AR-10 rifle for a long time. I was hoping to score a KAC SR-25, but it was hard enough to get my non-SBR SR-25, and the lack of a 22" upper for it for so long, I have basically given up hope of getting one at less than scalper pricing off Gunbroker or a similar website. The Noveske Leonidas never really appealed to me for reasons I can't really explain either. The Sig Spear SBR option is $1500 more than the DD option, though I could go crazy and do it in .277 Fury/6.8x51!  I have the chance to get this Daniel Defense SBR for a good price, roughly half of most reputable alternatives, so I am debating taking the plunge with this option. What should I know about it? Does it use the same magazines as my existing rifles, i.e., mainly SR-25 style PMags I use with some other AR-10's? Is it a reliable rifle suitable for use against feral hogs? Or, if I get jumped by dogs again, is it a good, dependable option to smoke them too? What else should I know about it? Lastly, any other AR-10 7.62 rifles I should consider with shorter barrels? And, no, I am not building my own 7.62 SBR, I want a proven platform, not a Franken-gun.  TIA, Sid |

Timing the shot so it hits and watching the dog fall limp before the front paws touch the ground is about as humane as I can make things. I need something more compact, as I run a can normally. Going in and out of a cabbed tractor with it, SxS, and similar things is a real PIA with the SR-25. I have an 11.5" AR-15, but I need more put-down power for a few threats. If the linear comp is effective for concussion reduction, I may omit the suppressor and just ensure I have good hearing protection at all times. |

Impulse buy but I dig it...even more now than before. I changed: Geissele match 2stage. TB adapter and can. stock. Good: All factory tested 2-position S/NS pinned gasblock. Very accurate Lifetime DD chrome barrel. BCG is slick coating, wipe off ez. Bad: Chonky but par for market weightwise unless V7. DD propoetary bbl/handguard limits options. And yeah suppressed only for me. prob great FRT host.

My recent impulse buy was a 12.5" POF LMR .308 pistol. I was actually looking for either a 12" FAL or PTR-91, but those are higher than I wanted to pay. I would have gladly got a DD5, except for the price. The POF was priced right. I actually entered a lowish bid on Gunbroker, like most of my impulse buys, and won. So for $1K, the POF is my current new toy. It's primarily a range toy that if it works well, may make it way up the ranks. I do love the weight of the POF small frame .308, it's under 7 pounds. It is very light and compact. It has a fixed gas block, but I actually have a POF adjustable gas block on another AR. The gas block may make it's way 'home' to the POF once I've had a chance to try it out. It's well over 100 degrees (114 today), so it'll be awhile before I'm doing any outdoor shooting. I don't really want to take a 12" .308 to an indoor range only to shoot 25 yards. I want to see what it can do at 100 and see what the muzzle blast is like. Muzzle blast indoors is always bad compared to an outdoor range, so I want to get a true feel for it. I've only had a 14.5" .308 in the past (PTR-91 with a cut & pinned flash hider at 16" OAL on the barrel). So far, pending a range trip, I'm happy with it. I may put a LAW folder on it to make it a backpack gun. |

13" HK MR762A4. I want one so bad. I have the 16.5" and i love it. It will shoot sub MOA all day if i do my part. Makes a great suppressor host and has a suppressor setting. It is a proprietary system including mags, which can be found for around $55 each. It works better than any AR10 platform i have used. You can buy it as a pistol or SBR. Probably better to buy it as a SBR, because the stock is proprietary. Slim Line stock is $87 and a g28 stock is $350. The buffer tube is set up to use a G28 stock if wanted. You can also run a FRT. I recently got my LMT MRGG-A out of jail. I looked a the DD SBR as an option, but opted for the LMT so I could if desired, change calipers, etc. I don't think anything below 14.5" will work in this LMT due to the hand guard length, but it fills a niche for me as is. |

What do you want to spend? I don’t know much about the DD guns but that’s a tough sale for me at $2500-$3000. For me personally I’d probably just get a PSA SABRE and SBR it or buy a lower and upper. I’ve also been looking at the lightweight smaller frame 308’s like POF and I think they do several SBR’s for quite a bit less. |

I am becoming more and more of a DD fanboy, and by all accounts their rifles work really well. I'd say go for it. I saw they released this in a pistol version as well, and I've kind of had my eye on it. If you get it, please report back and post lots of pictures. I'd love to get one. |

I was waiting on a commission check and they were got when I got it. It's been on my mind ever since. I bought a Tavor 7 with a 20" barrel in a low bid on Gunbroker. Then a 16" with some extra parts (Mantecore) came up at auction and I ended up getting that as well. So now I'm passively trying to trade my Tavor 7 for a gen 1 Galil ACE .308 pistol. |
