I have been checking out the DZ Rigs. I looked at the sizing guide and my waist fluctuates around 36" - 37" (but I working through some med issues to lower those numbers). I live in an area that does experience all four seasons and I would like to wear the rig all year round. I am assuming that a L/XL rig would be the most suitable, but I am worried about the fit during the warmer months. Conversely, if I go with a M/L, then will it be too tight during colder trips? Any advice is appreciated. |

The sizing on the DZ rig is based on the length of the PADDED part of the belt, and where that padded part falls on your hips. There is generally plenty of extra webbing available to make it fit more...robust people. The DZ Rig in size medium (the smaller of the two sizes) is optimized for someone with a size 32 or 34 waist size, as in 'I wear a size 34 jeans'. It has a + or - of 2-4 inches, though someone much bigger or much smaller could still wear it, the padded part won't be in the optimal location. If you are ever going to be less than a size 36, then you will want the medium. And there will still be plenty of room to adjust for bulky winter clothes and such. |

36-38" waist here before winter layers and I'm happy with the L/XL. Honestly, at 3" total difference and worn outside all layers (whatever they may be) you could likely get away with either size. For me, in MI, my outter layers can be considerable, and I wanted the larger center GP pocket in the rear. Like Marns said, there's plenty of belt so you don't have to worry about it being tight, it's more about where are the mag pouches going to sit. |

A size 36" waist is going to put you smack in the middle of the road when it comes to which one to get. You want the mag pouches to end up being - basically - right on the 3 and 9 oclock positions on your waist. Maybe slightly more forward of that. Too far forwards and you will have problems with the pouches getting in the way of your leg movements, and it gets annoying and tiring. Too far back and you have issues reaching the pouches - and eventually too far back and it stops becoming stable, as it's not resting correctly on your hips, just on your ass. |

You can go with either size. With no thick over layers, the front mag pouches are going to slightly hit the front of your legs, with the L/XL size. Only really noticable when running and it doesnt bother me. If i was climbing mountains a bunch, or something crazy, i would go down to the M/L to avoid any rubbing on the front of my legs. I do enjoy the larger rear pouch on the L/XL as it fits my night optics, head harness, skittles, etc |
