| Hi All. New to the forum so I hope this is in the right place. I'd like to get a rifle together in the UK but it needs a bufferless AR upper, like the BRN-180. Due to the restrictive UK firearms laws, we cannot have semi auto rifles so I'm needing something built without a gas port in the barrel and no other gas parts, so it's just a simple straight pull upper. And when created, some help in getting it exported to the UK. Do any of you folks know of a Gunsmith who could help with that?? Firstly help to see if it's possible and financially viable and then hopefully to build it... Thanks |
| If the law is the same as when I was there, pressure-bearing parts like the barrel need a slot on your firearm certificate. They are also subject to export control from the U.S. Your path of least resistance will probably be to buy a complete straight pull AR15 from one of the existing UK registered firearm dealers that sell them. |

| Yep we definitely need a slot for 223 on our license but that slot also acts as an import license to bring in a rifle to the UK, as long as its for personal use, so I'm ok there. But there are no straight pull ar15s uppers in the UK that don't utilise the lowers buffer tube... Hence the ask to you folks in the US. And I don't have any idea of US export laws but I'm assuming it's possible to export it?? |

Someone brought a few of these in to the U.K. Maybe you could buy one and just swap the handguard and lower out? I don’t know how involved the bullpup conversion is. If you wanted to import one, I’d suggest finding an FFL with experience in navigating export and ITAR restrictions, and then an RFD on this end with experience importing from America. I did know someone that had a few straight-pull rifles built and then imported from America, but it was probably twenty years ago. It might also be worth asking the various dealers that import and assemble ARs from America if they’d be willing to help? |
