Tips, tricks or just go with the idea that a used knife is better than a safe queen? Didn't realize tool steel stains in like minutes if not cleaned off. Only concern is really the rust (albeit it's super minor surface rust), wouldn't mind retaining the polished look but certainly not the end of the world.   |

| Polished carbon steel will require upkeep with occasional polishing cream or compound and frequent protectant application to remain polished. If you just clean, dry and apply a protectant it will patina, which is a natural protectant. Metal polish will also remove the patina if you dont like that look. As stated, Renaissance wax protects well and last a fair amount of time. |
