Not finished yet, my varmint rifle build. Cerakote is Magpul Foliage Green and Gunmetal Gray 50/50 to approximate Zink phosphate Park. I have a 26" Lilja barrel chambered in .20 Practical awaiting an oven large enough to bake it in. Going with a JL Billet handguard, the color of which is yet to be determined. Maybe Burnt bronze to match the wood, or just Park like the rest, haven't decided.

Graphite Black for a customer (KG Gunkote on heat shield)  Cobalt X300 to match P226  Sniper Grey Spikes 14.5   Tanodized Spikes 14.5   Tanodized Shockwave 12G   Midnight Bronze, FDE, Black F1 AR Pistol   3 Color Abstract (Cobalt Cerakote with Liberty Brown and Magpul OD Green KG)    Did this one last weekend:

First Cerakote. This was a practice-run, and I'm fairly happy with the results. I had never done any sort of air-brush like work before, so everything was a new experience for me. This was my first AR15, that I bought from a store. I've since built several other much nicer AR15s from parts, and wanted to get some practice in on my least nice guns before I started painting my more expensive ones. I'll probably paint my next gun in a week, using a similar style, and similar colors. My only self-critiques, which are very minor (I love the results) is I had difficulty making thin coats, and there's some splatter in a few spots. I got an air-brush instead of a HVLP, to hopefully remedy that, and make it easier to work with small quantities of paint. I also wanted slightly higher contrast, so I got some white paint as well. I ruined a "disposable" ($30) optic when I put it in the oven, so I got some KG GunKote so I can air-cure optics and electronics. I also purchased a bunch more stencils.     edit: How do I post/upload images? These files are showing up as links, despite using IMG tags. |

| Some beautiful stuff in here. I'm contemplating getting a BRN-1 Chassis for my Howa Mini. I was thinking of getting it cerakoted in a Kuiu Vias pattern. Are there any applicators that are more recommended than others? I was also under the impression that you could only cerakote metal...guess I was wrong. |
