Hoped to get somebody’s attention with the subject line. Had a CR 2011-2014 and got a second CR in January this year seemed like good idea as I new I would be selling and buying CR eligible firearms this spring. Won’t bother again. If your retired or independently wealthy and don’t need to work it would be more useful. Trying to coordinate for signature deliveries makes it easier to just pay my 01 FFL to take delivery and pay him $26 to be home. ANY WAY sorry for the rant. Expires 2029 so I may feel differently by then. Received 14 CR eligible firearms this year that have transfered to me through my 01 FFL on a 4473. Shipped 3 CR firearms through my 01 FFL to another 01 FFL. Do I need to enter the inbound ones in my bound book? I figured the outbound one need to be logged regardless of the 01 middle man. Thanks |

You only file firearms obtained after your license was issued. If you owned them before licensing, you do not add them to your bound book unless you dispose of them while licensed. If you're going to use an 01 to procure C&R firearms, the C&R FFL was indeed an absolute waste...now you have all the obligations of the license, but none of the benefits (i.e. you're not having them shipped to your door without 3rd party transfer fees). |

Yes sir I’m with you 100% on in it being a waste. My only real concern is : Am I legally obliged to enter CRs acquired while my current CR is valid that I transferred through the 01 on a 4473 while my current CR is valid. I am aware I don’t need to enter previously acquired CRs unless I sell them while my current CR is in effect. |

Any C&R acquisition made while you have an active C&R license needs to be logged in. Any C&R disposal made while you have an active C&R license needs to be logged out. Even if it was owned prior to getting tour license. C&R items acquired when you are not a licensee don't need to be logged unless you sell them while you are a licensee. |

Thanks for dumbing it down for me. When I had one in 2011-2014 I didn’t make more than 6-8 relevant moves in 3 years. I’ve made almost 3x that in first 6 months this time. It was fun to get a rifle shipped to your front door in California during Obamas first term. Now in an extremely free state with Trump in charge not such a big deal. |

Regardless of how you get it, you are required to log all C&R eligible firearms that you acquire while licensed in your A&D book. That includes C&R eligible firearms that are transferred to you in over the counter transactions (I.e. on a 4473 from an 01, 02, or 07 FFL). For example, when I had my C&R FFL, I bought a Spanish M1944 Short Rifle over the counter from Cabela's (including all paperwork and an authorization call). I logged it into my A&D book. |
