I did a quick search but it didn't look like there was a thread for this. What are you guys charging for transfers? Are you home based or B&M? Small home based here, I charge $20. I think I'm too cheap but it's brought me customers that keep returning. |

Several local (Albuquerque) shops - gun store and pawnshop - charge $15 per item, which is afaik the lowest around town. One of the larger shops with an indoor range charges $40, but waives it if you're a member (runs around $35/month for unlimited range use). As you get farther from town, some of the home-based FFLs charge $75+, last I checked, I guess on the logic that it's cheaper for someone to pay that than to spend the time and money to make the drive to the big city ... Twice, if you don't have a CCW. |

Bordering Tulsa. We have lots of options. Local home based is $10. He’s about 6 miles away, but you can only pick up during evening hours. Closest shop is 4.5 miles away with relatively standard business hours. Was $20, just went to $30. Guess who I’ll no longer use? |

It's going to vary hugely depending on locality and market, plus a lot of variance even in one market, as evidenced by FP data. Local home-based charges $25, discounted to $20 if customer first tried to order the item from them us and they couldn't get it. Fairly average for the area. |

No one around here transfers for less than 20 dollars anymore. Place closest to me is 35 bucks. I can remember transfers costing 20 bucks 15 years ago though and I guess with inflation it I can sort of understand why some are deciding to hike the price. |

Brick and mortar, but very limited hours because I have a day job. $50/first on the 4473, $20 for each additional. Legacy clients are $30+10 $20 discount with valid resident CWP $150 NFA transfers flat. I won't fingerprint you, but I'll hand you cards and a pad, and ship prints (for actual postage cost) on your behalf if you don't have EFT. My shop is about 15 miles outside of town, and is the closet FFL for about 50 miles in a couple directions. On firearms under about $750, I'd frankly rather do a transfer than a special order. |
In the long term, tax stamps and prostitutes are cheaper.

You ask about your suppressor, or BG status, I know you and don't have an ask an employee "who is Fred? What did he buy? What's his BG status? Hey Fred, let me call you back...." 2.) Internet transfer? I'm one of few in the area that still does them. Medium and Big shops won't do them, period. Others charge a hefty "premium" if it is something they have available. 3.) Privarte Party transfer? Yes, that is a "thing" here in WA, no just selling a gun to somebody without going through a dealer. Even fewer shops do those. Yes, I'm "by appointment only", but with my full time work from home job, I'm usually flexible for day time, evening and weekend appointment slots. 9:00 AM Sunday works best for both of us? See you then. Tuesday at 9:45 PM, after work, is the best time for you to pick up your gun after the check and 10 business day wait has passed? I can fit that in. Wednesday during your lunch break at 11:30 AM? Ok. Many customers appreciate that vs. just showing up to a B&M shop for their transfer, only to find 15 people in line in front of them, and no way they are getting done before their lunch break is over. When I hear guys say they charge $10, I wonder why the value their time so little. At the bare minimum, it takes 20 minutes (in this state...) to get the 4437 completed, the state BG kicked off, and additional state forms completed (applies to the few semi auto rifles you can still buy, any hand gun, or any frame/receiver). Add in the time it takes to receive the shipment, unbox it, log it in, clean up/recycle the packaging, figure out who it is for, contact them, set the appointment, have the appointment, set the pick up appointment, have the pick up appointment, etc. and it is a minimum of 30 minutes. $20/hour is what a $10 transfer works out to around here based on that. Not worth my time.... I have long time loyal customers too. They drive past cheaper places to work with me. Some even say "you should probably charge more, it's such a pleasure to deal with you for the government-mandated harassment of gun owners and purchases" But if I had 15 other shops and home-based FFLs within rock throwing distance of me, then prices would likely be different. Some customers just want the cheapest service, even if the customer service is crappy. Actually, most want to pay nothing and receive royalty treatment, but that is a discussion for another day/thread. As for your own pricing, you have to decide how you want to "stand out" to the market. Cheapest price around to drive traffic? Go for it, but know you will get the cheapest customers too. They just bought a gun online because it saved them $10, so don't think they'll buy ammo/accessories from your shop. They'll buy that online too. That's what I don't get about the B&M places with low transfer fees, thinking it will drive traffic to their store. It will, but again, online shoppers are savvy and will find the cheapest deal on accessories and ammo. So unless they need that widget/ammo/gadget "right now" for some reason, they aren't shopping your B&M for those items regularly.... Higher prices but world class customer service? You'll find your clientele there as well. Maybe a different set of "problems" from a customer service angle too. Hard to say. Final note: I'm not saying that the guys here that charge $10, $15, $20 aren't providing great service, they probably are. I have no personal experience as a customer with any of them. But I myself am not working for that little..... |

Not home-based or open-to-the-public B&M, we operate out of a building near the gun range for R&D, storage, admin, etc. We charge: $10 for life members of our range, $20 for yearly members of our range, We don’t do non-member transfers anymore, but used to be $35. Now NFA items, including DD’s, are $75 if we don’t sell the item, otherwise free. |

I charge $50 for PSA transfers, $25 for everyone else. After I had 3 denied / felons in a row on PSA transfers, I don’t care anymore. They are the ones who NEVER notify you before something just shows up. “What I got to do, fill out a form?” “I gots to pay you a fee”? “I can get a refund since I didn’t git da gun”? FU PSA and everything you’ve done to this industry

Most guys know better than to take advantage and try to order a ton of stuff. Generally its 1-3 serialized items I do per xfer. Oh and $50 for NFA, but only because I process forms through SS to make my life easy and they take half of that. I've largely avoided the felon crowd by operating pretty my solely on word of mouth and referrals. Occasionally someone I don't want to deal with slips one through and I politely steer them to a different location. Don't need those types coming to my house. |
