| Wondering if anyone that's ordered a custom shop garand recently can confirm if they are still shipping these with USGI stocks? The page description indicates lightly refinished usgi stocks, but some reports online I've been able to find, indicates many of these are coming with new commercial stocks. |

I just took the class last month and all the stocks they were supplying were aftermarket cut to WWII thin spec. They did have some USGI stocks but those came with the rifles being worked on. On the tour they had crates upon crates of USGI stocks that were unserviceable. |

I had a cmp stock turned down to the thinner dimensions previously, if that's the case, may end up springing for one. |

The earlier offerings from the CMP were all very "fat" stocks. I sold the one that I had. I even specifically asked about the fat stocks vs the WWII cut the first day of class. They also no longer have that weird "plasticky" finish the early ones came with. The stock they gave me was a super tight fit. Had to remove a bit of material to get the trigger guard to lock in. Of course the custom shop is doing far more than just getting a tight lockup. They also had a ton of different finishes on offer. One was about 30 coats of hand rubbed oil which gave the rifle an insane gloss. Most folks wanted a satin finish. |
