Soooooooooooo.... Both are Coonan receiver builds. FAL #1    Then, we have FAL #2:     Neither bolt has sand cuts, so that's a disappointment. I'm told FAL #2 looks like an Imbel kit, and that it could pass for (I think?) a South African build. I confess, I've always wanted one of these with the built-in bipod, and the pic rail is certainly welcome... assuming it's solidly mounted enough to not move. However, if #2 is a better build, those could certainly be added (the forend looks like it would accept the bipod). I've been told value should be around $900-$1200. What do all of you think? Which is the better gun? Can anyone tell if these are inch or metric? Not really looking to make an absolutely correct clone of anything, just want "the right arm of the free world" to play around with. Already have an M1A and an AR-10, so I have the zombie barfpocalypse pretty well covered. |

I wish I knew more about them. Mine is a build on an Imbel, I think it was an STG KIT. Somebody else built it and I just got lucky buying when they were cheap. I don’t know anything about the Coonan receiver. Price seems ballpark for today, might even be a deal. Aren’t they close to 2k new? Mags are kinda spendy now. Trigger is stout. A blast to shoot for sure. Mine just runs. I should get a rail and optic. Supposedly it’s all about the build on them. I had a friend buy one of the cheap century FAL models back in the 300$ days and his couldn’t get thru a mag. Almost turned me off of wanting one, but I still did. They both have metric-pattern parts. #2 will not accept the factory bipod because the barrel isn’t configured for it (and would require a new barrel to change that) so if you want to have the bipod get #1 instead. I tried that, and didn’t like gripping around the bipod legs. I much prefer the non-bipod-cut handguards. Sand cuts don’t really do anything. You don’t need sand cuts. Most FALs didn’t have them. |

Thought I would have it swapped back on someday, but that won’t happen. EE bound. Thanks. |
