I just got into 6.5 creed loading 140 eldms. I'm finding a broken tip or two straight out of the package and while loading on the 550 if i don't catch them coming out of the kicker i get the odd broken tip letting them slide down normally. Curious is this something everyone experiences or did i get a bad bunch? My only other tipped bullet experience is 53 vmax in 223 and i didn't see this at all runing them progressively on the 750. ETA forgot i've loaded 1k 75 eldm's and no such problem. The ELDM's shoot great but i know from mdt's video on snapping tips that those bullets are only good for bigger steel close. |

RTV - return to vendor The above is WRONG. The vendor did not make the bullet so they are not the warranty provider. Whether a LGS or MidwayUSA dumping it in their lap is well ridiculous on so many levels. People with troubles want to speak with Hornady, the OEM. Have the box etc so that you have the Lot # etc. All OEM's want to speak directly to the person experiencing issues. To think anything else is UNWISE. |

I'm really just trying to find out if other people who load eldm's especially 140's and let them slide out the kicker down to the bin on a dillon 550 have issue with tips breaking. I know hornadys number if i need it. |

Guys some of you are making a mountain out of mole hill. I once got a batch of "2nds" 55 gr V-Max from place in Valentine Nebraska. Lock Stock and Barrel They were sold as some tips may be missing. That was true. But for my purposes out of 223 at 300 yds they were just fine. Hornady could have made a bad lot? The OP needs to talk to them. If you have ever watched bullets being made....a loaded round dropping out of 550 press is just fine. Do you realize that ammo makers tumble live ammo before boxing? |

I found an old thread on another form that answered my question this is not "normal". They shouldn't break that easy. So i got a bad batch..... the box they arrived in looked perfect not beat up. I knew they wouldn't be great but holy cow are they are bad at distance when the tip is broken. Did the fun part of reloading yesterday shooting at long range. |
