Looking for input on a decent quality but still affordable off the shelf and readily available bipod for a belt fed AR upper that will attach to the forend and that will allow pressing into it without breaking it. Anyone have some suggestions for a bipod that's in production or at least commonly available ? An actual 249 bipod or some combloc surplus bipod might be the perfect solution, but they aren't readily adapted for mounting on an AR15 pic rail/mlok forend without fabricating a custom adapter. The forends on the MCR and MFR56 are pretty short so I'd think the legs need to fold forward, the L6 is more forgiving in that regard with a longer forend. |

Looks cool. When folded under the handguards it makes a decent handhold like a Bren. You need to hit the buttons to deploy the legs. Only a little side to side rotation (i.e., the looseness of the internals). But I guess for a belt-fed that might be less important than for a fauxtomatic rifle fed with mags. I'm looking for another but it does the job for now. |

The most rigid and heavy duty yet still low profile, fast adjust/deploy bipod for this role is the SR5 or FD5 version of the Accutac. Unfortunately, it is NOT cheap. You really need some length for this role. You really need some cant adjustment for this role. Then you need it to be rock solid when applying pressure and not wiggle, bounce, or flex. And you have to be able make adjustments quickly. Everything else seems to wiggle, break, flex, close, is too short, or something. Or it is too big, too wide, or too heavy. It is not perfect but it is close. One handed open/close of both legs at same time would make it perfect. |

I have an Accu-Tac BR-4 on my L6. Full extension works well with the Inoculum magazine nut sack adapter in my M16. It will work even better with the Inoculum lower I have coming. |

My gun uses a Parker Hale but they no longer make them (its what Colt supplied for the LSW test and came with my upper). They are patterned after the Bren MK1 bipod. After using the NC Star bipod for a bit, a pin fell out while it it's case and I lost it. I fixed it with some wire, but it is not confidence inspiring. I ended up getting the GG&G GGG-1409 bipod and it feels much more robust. However, it takes up a lot of rail space if set up to fold rearward. It locks either way, so it can be loaded in either direction, but I ended up repositioning it to forward folding. Which brings up a question ... are you guys setting your belt fed bipods to fold forward or rearward? |

It blocks the entire bottom rail so it made more sense to do that. |
