I saw this at my local Costco today. The safe itself wasn't anything too impressive but I did find the lockwork interesting. Instead of the usual extending and retracting bolts or bars, the door jam has a series of bolts mounted on three sides. The door has corresponding holes. Inside the door is a sliding bar or bars that catch on the bolts when the door is shut. Ease of cutting through that with a Sawzall is really a function of its thickness. How thick is the stainless steel and what did it cost? While that looks awesome and surely adds a layer of security, the extra security is really an unknown. A reconditioned TL15 or TL30 composite safe gives true security that’s proven by its UL certification. |

I understand what it takes to get in one of these. Only thing that would take a little bit longer to get into is something that has concrete between layers of steel. Those can still be cut into though. ETA: Looks like it's .125" thick. |

Sturdy certainly makes nice safes. That must at least be close to the security of a TL15 plate steel safe, just without the UL certification. |
