Just for the sake of clarity because there is some confusion between the two... when you say STG 77 are you referring to the extremely rare and expensive few years old STG 77 40th anniversary model which is legal in some states where an AUG is not because it does not say AUG on it and actually list the model engraved on the receiver as model STG 77? OR The very recent distributor exclusive also rare and expensive so-called stg77 which is less historically correct not legal in states which restrict the AUG and actually says model AUG A3 M1 and merely has an STG 77 decorative engraving logo having nothing to do with the model legally? In either case they're going to be rare expensive and difficult to get. However I have two of the 40th anniversary models and might be willing to let one go for the right price. The latter one the so-called STG 77 distributor exclusive I wouldn't touch with a 10 ft pole. Especially since it is easily replicated for much less money. |

No way would I buy one of the later pseudo STG 77s they are easily replicated for dramatically less money. I also would not buy an A1 as your first or only Aug if you're actually going to really shoot it unless you have some very specific niche case. The permanently attached optic is a very limiting factor. You can change the scope inner tube out to a 3X but you would have to buy the 3x to rob the tube out of and send it into Shire for the swap. The A1 is cooler and it is lighter weight but the optics are very limiting. |
