| I'm looking to snag several thousand rounds of 22 to just turn money into noise and joy at the range. I don't particularly care about consistent dime sized groups at 50 yards, I'm just looking for consistent ignition and cycling in 10/22s. They don't necessarily need to be clad, but it would be nice for suppressor use. Back 15 or so years ago, when a brick of thunderbolts was under $18, my wife and I would go to a range and not leave until we were out. I guess I'm looking for value for money. |

For domestic made blasting ammo, my preference by far is CCI standard velocity, mini mag or AR-tactical Best quality most consistent American made ammo ( in all honesty the other manufacturers set the bar pretty low) I might by federal when on sale, and only shoot Winchester or Remington if I get it for free it is such poor quality. After CCI my next favorite ( much better than other domestics in my experience) is Mexican aguila. |

CCI Standard Velocity and Federal Auto Match are my stockpile. Luckily, my habit for the past 20 years was to pick up a brick (or three) of 22lr every time I visited a gun shop. It doesn't cost too much every trip, made it feel like it wasn't a wasted trip. Added up quickly. |

When buying CCI Standard Velocity Buy the 50ct box SKU (CCI #35) of CCI Std Velocity it is cheaper than the 100ct plastic box SKU (CCI #32) #35 is like 3.50/50 #32 is like 8.50/100 |

| I bought a couple of cases of Aquila Standard Velocity. It's 40 gr lead, 1,130 fps, so not sub sonic. But I put 1,500 rounds through my suppressed P22 in one sitting and it worked very well. Local place had it for 6 cents a round, Cheapest on Ammo Seek is about 8 cents a round. If you can find CCI SV for 6 cents a round, buy as much as you can. |

I prefer Aguila for rifles as the velocity deviation is pretty small compared to Federal etc. CCI SV is hard to come by locally in case lots or I would buy that as well. I'll shoot anything thru a handgun so it's bucket of bullets time there.  |

For standard velocity, my favorite by far is CCI SV. Next is Federal Automatch or Aguila SV. Federal blue box (800rd boxes) is either very similar to or the same as Automatch, IME. HV, Mini Mags for sure, and it's not close. I greatly prefer CCI SV for affordable and decently accurate while staying subsonic, necessary for long range. |

I try to buy local if possible and practical on the cost. Concerning semi auto firearms, on the budget side Armscor HP is 6 cents a round, and I have had no problems with it in the TX22. Accurate and no malfunction after a 1500+ rounds. Federal bulk back from Walmart works in everything but one pump rifle due to extraction problems. Probably a worn extractor compared to the ammo rim dimensions. But my two 10/22s love it at minute of squirrel accuracy. CCI standard velocity for a couple of older pistols because of their design and expense if a part breaks due to overuse of HV ammo. I haven’t experienced it personally but why chance it. Bottom line, as mentioned above, is determine which firearm the bulk ammo is intended for. Is your goal 100% function vs accuracy? And buy a box or two for testing before committing to cases of it. |

Standard Velocity is the go-to for economy, but you can pick most any of their ammo. If you want to buy a small amount of "quiet stuff to shoot suppressed at animals", "CCI suppressor max" is your huckleberry. And turn your number into "tens of thousands". Ammo only gets more expensive. |

Cheapest I have seen in a while $22.99 525rd federal hollow points. Federal 525rd 36gr hollow points, $22.99. $229 a case. I bought a few and after tax & shipping was $25.79 each. Shipped in 10 box cases. Cheap HV plinking ammo. |

| I have recently dove into shooting 22LR at 4" targets at 300 yards. I have tested a bunch of 22LR ammo and have been somewhat amazed at just how bad some of it is. I have a CZ 452 that is capable of amazing rimfire accuracy, with good ammo. For blasting pop cans in the back yard, look at Federal Automatch or CCI standard velocity. Just makes sure it cycles your semi auto 22's. There is a reason the "good stuff" (Ely) costs 3X as much as the plinking ammo. |

I buy the following- Plinking with pistols/rifles up to 50 yards- whatever Federal, Winchester, Herter’s, etc is on sale or I can stack discounts (Cabelas) is available locally for $.06 a round. Recreational target shooting at the range/on steel out to 200 yards-1st pick, CCI Standard velocity. 2nd pick, Aguila STD Velocity. I also have a lot of Aguila High velocity as well, but it’s about 1/2 an inch bigger groups @100 yards vs their std velocity. Serious target shooting- Federal Gold medal, etc. I haven’t made the jump yet to Eley, etc. I’m not that serious or good enough to justify the price/round yet. Suppressor use on pistols and bolt action rifles- CCI Subsonic, STD velocity, Aguila std velocity. Best place to keep an eye on for buying CCI STD Velocity- Expert Voice website. $2.99/box with free shipping code for orders over $75 I believe- they have it for months. Similar deals previously on subsonic 22 lr, suppressor, etc. Check it out, deal is active now. I hope I don’t regret posting the link and you guys snap it all up! I have never had good results in the some old T22 was good. I will stick with CCI STD Velocity. If I need hp rounds then Mini Mags work for me. |

| I don't recall seeing it in this thread but I bought a couple 1400rd packs of the Winchester 45gr Super Suppressed recently. It isn't CCI Subs or SV but isn't bad stuff. I occasionally get one that's supersonic. Overall I'm not complaining since I'll likely shoot it out of suppressed pistols. |

I have been using the Winchester 555 for steel challenge in AR and 22/45 Picked a box up at Walmart to try it out, worked pretty good. Bought a case of it last year the for 5 cpr. I have been restocking locally at Walmart for $36 a box of 555 So that is cheaper than ordering it online after shipping |
