| Anyone shooting one? Do you like it? I am a serious waterfowl hunter and have been running an A400 extreme plus since 2021. Any reason to “upgrade”? I shoot 3.5” shells and the a400 does a good job managing the recoil so no complaints in that department. Was thinking about running an RDS and it looks like the AX is already setup for that also. |

By all accounts the AX800 is a great shotgun. Dealers can’t meet them in stock. I also own a A400 extreme so it’s kind of splitting hairs. I don’t think a red dot will help with wing-shooting ducks. As you already know you are supposed to look at the bird not the barrel. Yes you should have barrel awareness but I’m not sure staring at a red dot is going to help. But at the end of the day if you “need” a new shotgun go for it. |

I have an early A400 Extreme 26” barrel that I keep in my condo in Florida. I also have a A400 Extreme plus here in NY 28” barrel. I like the flat rib on the original A400 as opposed to the step rib on the plus. Just personal preference not a deal killer. I also prefer the 26” barrel. Just seems handier. Also the huge honking extended bolt handle on the plus just gets in the way. Again just my preference. Especially when carrying it in the field turkey hunting. I would imagine it’s the stock on the AX800 that feels different. I have an Infinity for auto loading shotguns. Last count I have 16. Six of which are Beretta. Always found them to be dependable. But they do need to be cleaned. Sucks I hate cleaning guns. |

I handled the AX800 at the Hamburg PA Cabelas. I don’t think I have the shims installed correctly on my A400 Extreme plus correctly or the AX800 just comes up better. I’m a lefty and the 800 just felt natural. My brother ordered one in Timber camo. Since I have the extreme plus it’s hard to justify a 800 for myself but if I was buying a new waterfowl gun the 800 would be it. While I was there I bought a A400 28 gauge upland for quail in Florida. |
| I shot one today at Shotgun Fest 2026. It was fun to shoot I didn't have A400 to compare it to but I also shoot an A300 which I like a lot too. But I wanted a A400 for the 3.5" capabilty. Between the A300 and the AX800 the AX800 shot pretty good it was super light as well. |
