Took out the Scar 15p today and a couple different cans just because. Laz 6 was up first since that's what lives on there. Next up was the Sierra 5. Two rounds and I thought, okay let's try the Polonium. Went to unscrew the S5 and heard stuff rattling around inside. I thought, fuck baffle strike and the jacket is rattling around inside. Checked the endcap, nope, still round. Unscrewed and found my blast baffle was no longer with us  Fwiw, I've had it since 2023 and it's spent most it's life on a 12.5" AR. I actually really like it for the size and weight. Oh well, RMA sent to Dead Air Attached File |

One cool thing is they did develop that to a point it isn’t a problem on a rebuild, and its one way to get a brand new one. Fortunately it didn’t cause any harm to anything but itself, and didn’t happen in a situation more serious than a range day. The rebuilt can has a new finish and everything. |

Ah yes, the infamous Sierra 5 Maraca model. For years DA was just clamming up and pretending there was no problem. But allegedly they've gotten better about repair/replacement. 2 questions: Approximately when was this can originally purchased? I would bet it was relatively soon after the can was released in mid-2022, correct, and then took about 8-10 months for the stamp to clear and you took possession in 2023? AKA you bought this from one of the first batches after release? And what mount were you using, keymo or something else? It doesn't really matter and wouldn't have any impact on this blast baffle failing. I'm just curious. |

Mount was the Griffin Plan A long taper mount w/minimalist taper brake, my go-to solution for all things shhhh. For sure wasn't the mount, since no baffles got clipped on the way out. Got it boxed up and I'll drop it off tomorrow. RMA said 50-60 days average turnaround time. |

But there was a multi-month period where customers where just left in limbo with broken cans and no inkling of when the problem might be rectified. I was a bit surprised it didn’t leave a more substantial or lasting tarnish, as fickle as the NFA world can be. |

Quoted repair was 50-60 days average, got it back today at 49. Wish it hadn't happened, but overall i'm satisified with the repair service. Zero human contact, all automated via their website.
