I’m looking for something to use daily that can carry one or two water bottles, a lunch box, laptop, and misc crap.

I’ve narrowed it down to the Eberlestock Switchblade, Mystery Ranch Blitz 30 and the North Face Recon.  All of those are in the 30L range and seem to have the features I’m looking for.

Anyone have experiences with any of those or recommend one over the other?  Or any other reputable brand?

Thanks!

@Mpnelson81 I’ve got an alpha one niner evade that I love for this kinda stuff. I use it for in office days. They are hard to find but very worth it.  The 1.5 are sold out but I’d look at eBay.

I just bought a Kelty Redwing 30L. I did a few miles with 30lbs of sand and two nalgenes of water, then a few miles with 50lbs. I did replace the frame sheet to do that, but I probably didn't need to do it for the 30lbs of sand.

It's got a decent laptop compartment and the frame sheet can be replaced with something stiffer like I did or balistic protection.

32oz nalgenes fit fine but something slimmer would be more ideal. I like that it can splay open and has two straps to tie down side loads like a tripod or camp axe.

It was cheaper than most 'EDC'. I prefer Optactical.com but they are out of stock.

My one critique for EDC is that the shoulder strap adjustment is a little gimmicky. For rucking, it needs more structure to place the weight better.

The first two will probably be significantly nicer than the North Face one.

I'd also take a look at the Hill People Gear Umlindi and Connor.  I have the Umlindi.

I have a twenty year old NF Recon that is still going strong.  That being said, it does get rotated a couple other EDC daypacks.  But it is a great one.

I use the Switchblade regularly for travel and days in the office and love it. It's big, but it'll still fit under a normal airline seat. I can fit so much shit in there that it's uncomfortable to carry with room to carry a bit more. The magnetic concealed carry pouch is nice, and it doubles as the carry-on handle pass through.

I use an Osprey Nebula to carry similar items to and from work. I was considering a North Face Recon, but decided to go with the Nebula after reading several online reviews. It has stretchy side pockets that I use to carry a 40 oz Hydroflask and 1L Nalgene. I keep various papers and folders in the laptop compartment, and an insulated lunch bag in the main compartment, along with a rolled up jacket and misc stuff. The organization is well laid out, and it's impressive how much it can hold. It's not a technical backpack, so the suspension is best suited for commutes or short walks rather than long hikes or such. It serves me well when I'm working in an office, or to carry my crap buckled into the front seat of a patrol car.

The price fluctuates on Amazon; I picked it up last year when it was a bit cheaper.
