Ive got a HK21 kit and do not possess the tools or skills to build the receiver myself. I've been dragging my feet on getting it built due to the price and other stuff that's a higher priority. Found a builder thats selling prebuilt receivers for about what it's going to cost to have my kit built minus $1000 credit for the shroud/trunnion/feedbox housing, so I'd be saving money in theory putting the parts in myself. How difficult is moving the parts over to the new receiver compared to an AR15 ? I think I saw a comment here about the HK21 feed mechanism being very difficult to assemble correctly. |

In my limited experience with HK 21s, they are mother fuckers and not worth the saved money. Have it built by a competent builder. I have a MM21e, and sold my RDTS 21. Both great guns, but when they go wonky, you need to speak HK to get them back to right. I have two 21 kits, I plan on get on 51b built and a 21EUG. I will pay to avoid the high blood pressure and frustration. |
| I’ll echo what others have said: pay to have it built. A reliable Beltfed is a wonderful thing. A finicky Beltfed sucks. You have to get everything aligned just right in the 21. Then it has to be welded while ensuring it doesn’t warp. Have an experienced HK smith do it. |

Been around several of them over the years Stuff built on HK recs and HK parts, MM stuff, etc They either hum along like silk, or absolutely are a pile of aggrevation. The transition to and from working is also instant. Sooo many critical dimensions I truly appreciate HK guns but for whatever reason their belt fed stuff that didnt leave the factory as a factory belt gun...yeah im out I dont have the money required to constantly keep them going |
