| I’ve always wanted a 29” M82. Have a chance to trade towards a 20” CQ locally and I might jump on it. But I’m unsure if I’ll regret getting the 20” barrel. I know it’s more handy and easier to transport but it’s not really what I’be always wanted. Don’t even know why. The 20” still will be plenty given the accuracy limitations of the M82. Thoughts? |

87% of the people who get 50 BMG guns are only doing it for the yuks. The downrange performance difference as a consequence of barrel length is utterly irrelevant for that group of buyers. I'll venture that 87% of that group never fire 100 rounds. If you think the gun is cool, and you have a place to store it, I say get it. |

I don't think you will notice any real world difference, but if you have always wanted the 29" M82, anything else probably won't scratch that itch. I have a 20", and I take it out to shoot maybe 4 times a year. It is easier to store and transport (the 29" wouldn't fit in my safe assembled). It is also true that everyone else shoots it more than I do. It's a fun party trick, people love shooting it. But after so many rounds, I can pass on some days.  |

I think when I bought mine the 20 and 29 were the same price. I asked a Marine friend of mine which to get. He said unless you're lugging it to the top of buildings and want the weight savings get the 29. I think I paid just under 7k at the time. I couldn't swing the 107 back then. I'm glad I did but it is a kinda a bitch to store it. |

If I did it a third time, I would get the 20" especially using the suppressor. Exactly. I replaced my long barrel 82 with a short barrel 107 and then added a can. Much funner to shoot. Next up, chopping the barrel in my AI bolt gun or just getting a short Proof prefit. |
