When I was a young Marine stationed in Naples back in the late 80’s, we had a couple posts over at the AFSouth NATO base where the admiral worked. One of those posts had a Remington 870 that was a short-barrel model with a factory top-folding stock. After I got out, I turned an old 870 into a legal clone by keeping the 18.5” barrel and adding a factory 7-round magazine extension. Later in the Air Force as a CATM instructor, I trained a lot cops on the old-school 870s before the 870 MCS came in. Those were your standard 870s with a 20” barrel, 8-round magazine extension and bayonet lug with the bead sight. Again, I found an old police surplus 870 scrounged up the parkarized mag tube and bayonet lug to create another close of the ones we had in the Air Force. |
