We at Dead Air were recently contacted by a shop with a customer that has a SCAR 17 S. Our DA305 SCAR flash hider was not threading down all the way and seating on the muzzle face as designed. We got some dimensions from the shop, and it appears the 17S barrel in question has about .580 of 5/8-24 thread, as opposed to the ~.620 of thread we are accustomed to seeing. If there are any of you out these with a set of calipers and a SCAR 17 (any variant) that has an easily accessible muzzle, would you mind sharing how much thread is on your barrel as measured from the muzzle face to the last thread? Battery turned out to be dead in calipers but hopefully the markings should be sufficient. This is the muzzle of a 16” barrel off a fairly early SCAR 17, before they changed to the 7 lug bolt. If I didn’t understand what you are looking for just let me know and I can measure differently. Attached File |

Thanks Boregonian. Much appreciated! Thanks also for mentioning the vintage of your SCAR. Yours seems to have the longer length of threaded barrel muzzle shank, right in line with what I measured off of a commercial SCAR 17 years ago when I was with AAC. Keep em' coming folks!
