Ammo you wouldn’t shoot: I saw two dealers trying to move that Dominican Republic (DR) yellow tip crap. One was honest, had signs that it was for component use only, and was at $1/round. He also had DR primed cases at 2/$1 and projos at 10/$1 or 4/$1 depending on condition. The second dealer had DR with the tips buffed clean to get rid of yellow paint at $3/round. He claimed not to know what it was when asked.  Ammo you’d shoot: Cheapest I saw was $1.85/round for Talon API, 100 rounds belted in an ammo can. Average: I saw plenty of options at $3-4/round. Straight ball seemed to be the most expensive “normal” stuff. There was an estate selling Hornady AMAX and Barrett ammo in sealed boxes at $50/box of 10 rounds. The guy managing the tables said it was his late father-in-law’s stuff. They wanted it all gone. I picked up four 150-rounds green cans of Talon ball for $1,750, or $2.93/round. On the high end, I found Raufoss at $90 and $100/round. It was legit, but I’m not paying that even for one round as a collector piece. YMMV. Primers averaged $1/each, although I found some CCI at .95 and Nobel Sport (German) at .70 and .75/each. Powder: I found very little. One guy was selling 8 lb jugs of 5010 pull down. I lost the note with the price, but it was around 2020 beyond-panic levels. Spent brass: One guy was asking $1/each. Projos varied wildly based on what they were with ball and spotter-tracer being the most expensive. Most were being sold by CVDS, and their prices are online. That’s what I saw. Just saw this thread. Been away for a bit. That DR ammo is pure shit. As a favor to a friend years ago, I pulled apart about 100 to 150 rounds of that ammo. He wanted the brass and projectiles. MAN!!!!!!!!!!!! The number of rounds where the ammo was going green on the inside, was phenomenal! I even had some water pour out of the cases while I was doing this. Some of the projectiles even rattled when I shook them. That stuff is garbage. |

I wouldn't touch anything Dominican related at any price. Talon also. Their shit was overloaded and underloaded by quite a bit. We tried some and you either got a massive fireball out the brake from excess powder still burning, or underloaded that it wouldn't open an 82a1 action about an inch or so. Recoil on some of it was like a softball .308 load |
I hated going to weddings. All the grandmas would poke me and say "You're next". They stopped that when I started doing it to them at funerals.
