I've searched and didn't see a thread and got mixed info online. I want to suppress my AUG. I have a HuxWrx Flow 556k hanging around not doing anything. Now I know an AUG isn't the best host, but whatever. Do I need the new gas plug? Especially with a flow through? I keep reading both ways. That it'll beat up the internals and then have seen other stuff where it's fine. Hoping some of you guys with more AUG experience can help. |

I ran mine with an old AAC M4-2000 and didn’t notice any unusual wear on the internals. It did noticeably increase bolt velocity. Subsequently I got the Steyr suppressed gas plug. Since it vents to atmosphere, it’s significantly louder than an AR host. It’s fun to shoot it as a straight-pull with the gas off too (and obviously much quieter). |

I'd say yes, you want the suppressor plug. I have a B&T Print XH 5.56 on mine. I've shot it with the gas setting which is the same as the original plug and it functioned fine, but with much more recoil and port blast noise like I've never experienced. I also shot it on grenade setting which made it a single shot and significantly quieter. You can't appreciacte the level of suppression on the suppressed setting until you stand behind someone shooting it. I have also used a Sierra 5 on the AUG with the suppressed plug. I experienced no blowback in any situation. Having said all of that, I'm eagerly waiting for KNS to get the AUG Discarder in stock again or again again. |

I can't see why anyone would order the factory suppressed Steyr plug with what the KNS promises, I just want to see some real world results. The biggest thing is it's supposed to reduce piston pop.  KNS AUG Adjustable Piston Update |

If you want something adjustable then the KNS might be your cup of tea. Over gassed is a design feature and set to run a wide range of ammo. I am sure the Steyer suppressor regulator is also overgassed for function #1 priority. |

Or if you have a spare gas plug you can drill it out yourself like I did. Make sure you have a few drill bits because they will break. Gas plugs are made of the hardest metal on earth. I broke about five bits before I drilled through. |
