I found this AUG stock in my heap of gun parts and was hoping for some info. Pic is below. I think this is an A2, but not really sure. Also a little confused about the color. Are there different versions of "mud", or did the shade of mud change? This seems like a lighter shade than the pics of mud AUGs I've seen online. Attached File |

There is no such thing as an A2 stock. there are A2 rifles but not stocks. There are A1 stocks and A3 stocks and NATO stocks and 9mm stocks but no A2 stock. The primary difference between an A1 and an A3 is the the A3 has an external stock mounted bolt release. There have been many shaeds of green and mud. There are even some shades of green that appear more choclate! The only color that has really remained fully consistent has been black. However what you have is a "sand" color stock becasue "urine or pale mustard colored yellow" isn't very marketable. A brand new sealed set complete with color mathcing charging handle and foregrip would go for potentially up to $700 http://www.pjs-steyraug.com/ Steyr AUG New Pre Ban Desert Tan Stock Kit From 90s $700 Unfortunately the missing color matching charging handle and foregrip greatly diminishes its value. Still though even without them it is cool, just not as cool or valubable as with them. |

TSH pretty much said it all- That is the "Desert Sand" color stock - they were sold on their own, I don't think any factory guns were built up with them, and yeah, they in theory had a matching VFG and charging handle. Sven Manticore Arms |

I will add that one of the things that makes them cool is the color matching trigger safety and mag release. You don't always get that. For example you might have a white stock but have a black trigger safety and mag release or a green stock with a black safety trigger and mag release or a mud stock with black etc. The only three combinations I've seen fully color matching as far as the stock goes has been the old vintage black and green and then the sand. |

Austrian AUGs still color match those parts with the stock |
